According to Wikipedia, one player and one member of the crew survived the plane crash. Player Alexander Galimov is reported to have severe injuries and that he has burnings on 80% of his body.

    How horrible and heartbreaking.

Ex-NHLer Pavol Demitra is confirmed dead in the crash, as is coach Brad McCrimmon, who played for the Calgary Flames and last year was an assistant coach with the Detroit Red Wings.

My thoughts are with all of the families and friends.

How horrible! It's reminiscent of the USA FS team's plane crash in the early 1960's.

My deepest sympathies to the families.

    ETA:

CNN does have this (I did not see it earlier)

German National Player Robert Dietrich is apparently also among the victims. It's so tragic: He had a contract with the German team Adler Mannheim until 2013 but left them after last season because he wanted to play in Russia so badly. It just breaks my heart.

ETA: It has been confirmed player Alexander Galimov died at the hospital

Oddly, CNN has no mention of this on their web site. This should have been a big news.

Horrible. The photo of the wreckage is too much for words.

When will the Russians stop letting these old planes fly?
It's not the first time an old plane crashes in Russia just because it should not be flying anymore.
    This makes me so angry!

Just so, so tragic. I'm so sorry for all those left behind and for all those players I've watched and enjoyed over the years like Pavol Demitra who was on board today, thank you for sharing your great talent with us. You'll all be missed. RIP.

Apparently Alexander Galimov did not die but is still in a highly critical condition.
