I have not had to block anything yet (I am a newcomer to FB), but I would block anything revealing or very personal, like the woman with breast cancer posting her post-mastectomy pictures, for example. I have the greatest sympathy and respect for those who face this terrible ordeal, but it's unnecessary to make a 'show' of it. JMO of course. I am a very private person and I prefer not to see very private things about others.
Facebook Just Switched Your Email Address - To One You've Probably Never Used
The article covers how to switch back to the e-mail address you were using previously:Whether you've noticed or not, you have a new primary email address listed as your Facebook contact and most likely, it's an address you've never used.
The social-networking site has quietly replaced your default email addresses such as Gmail and Yahoo! with your @Facebook.com address, an email service option the company launched a few years ago and synced with Timeline in April.
If you want to switch your email contact information back to what it was, it's easy to do. Visit your Timeline or profile page and select "About" under your contact information. You can then hide your Facebook email address from the contact page and elect to highlight another email address.

The email change only irritated me because I hid my personal email and I had to go back an hide the facebook email. Almost every upgrade requires me to reset my privacy. It gets old. Eventually I'll move to something else, but I have a group on Facebook that I enjoy.
Ok, maybe some of you smart folks at FSU can help me. Why the hell do I get notifications every time particular people add a photo?? And how do I turn it off? It started after facebook switched me over to the dreaded timeline. I've been to my notification settings a couple of times now to try to turn it off to no success. I don't have anyone added to my "close friends" list, everyone's in my general list, I haven't specifically subscribed to anyone, so why is it doing this?
I have a question in regards to people looking at my profile who are not my friends. I thought I had set my account to pretty strict privacy settings. But I was helping someone with facebook the other day and used my page as an example of searching for somebody. If I'm remembering correctly, some photos, some things on my timeline/personal page and even some of my "likes" were visible to anybody. I don't want non-friends to see any of this stuff. I played around with settings, but didn't see anything that helped me get more privacy. Where do I need to look? :confused?
I probably don't have an answer for you, but since your post has been met with silence, I'll offer what I can. What I do when somebody posts pictures every five seconds is to click on the (invisible at first) down arrow at the top right of any of their posts. You can click on "hide" their post and once you've done that, you can choose what you receive from this person. I usually choose "only important" posts. Not sure why people post SO many photos this way. I just put all my photos in one album, and then click on the "notify" (or whatever) button that lets people know I've posted a new photo album. 30 notifications for each photo instead of one for a new photo album is really annoying IMHO and I block future posts from people this annoying.

Hmm.... I decided to set up a real facebook page (kinda been using a fake one to check it out). The only thing I have really done so far was share a lot of cute pictures from some other people's facebook pages. I could always see anything I shared, but now when I am on my own page, I don't see anything at all but one "like" I did and my About info. I don't see any of the pictures I have shared. Its like the only thing I have ever done is fill in the About page and made one "like". What happened?
Not sure if I'm understanding you correctly and I'm not a facebook expert, but I'll give this a go anyway. When you log on to facebook, the default page is your "home" page. It's where people post stuff that will appear on your timeline. At the top right of your screen you will see the word home with your name proceeding it. If you click on your name, you will see your private/personal wall and all the things you have posted.
I realized I used the wrong words/terminology for the different pages, if I'm wrong, somebody please correct me!![]()

I have a question about chat. How are the friends who appear in the list on the right side of the page determined? Are they the people you've had the most contact with? The friends who appear on your newsfeed most often? Or some other way?
And to clarify....the people who appear on the right side of the screen are not those who are available to chat, right? Only those who have a green dot after their name are online/able to chat? What about the upright rectangle, that means the friend is on a mobile device, right? Are these people logged onto facebook right then on their mobile device and available to chat?

The green dots are available to chat. The mobile devices are logged into FB on their phones, but may not necessarily be available. On one of my devices (can't remember if it was my iPod, my BB phone, or my Playbook), hovering the cursor over the phone icon showed what appeared to be how long it had been since a mobile user's last activity on FB.
I have no idea how the people in your chat list are determined -- there's probably some algorithm that picks them out based on your contact (likes, messages, etc) and groups.

I'm getting ready for lots of snarkage about this: Facebook Newsfeed becomes personal newspaper . I'm only just used to the previous changes!
