A good start by the Russians, although it has to be said that they are most certainly not in the same league as Adelina Sotnikova and Elizaveta Tuktamysheva who were scoring 20 points higher last season. Of all the Russians competing in this seasons JGP, I think Julia Lipnitskaya has the greatest potential. She finished 4th in this years Russian Nationals, beating Ksenia Makarova into fifth place (Sotnikova 1st, Leonova 2nd, and Tuktamysheva 3rd - Shelepen and Agafonova finished 7th and 9th respectively). The following are Lipnitskaya's programs from the 2011 Russian Nationals:-

Thanks for posting these. I really liked Li. Who does she train with, and where?

Isn't Li with Li square? (Li Ming Zhu and Li Changjiang) (That would make it a Li-cube.)

I really like Yasmin Siraj's SP choreography. It's beautiful! Her skating has such potential. That being said, there is something in her stroking that comes across as awkward or stiff. I can't put it into words. Maybe she needs to get deeper in her knees?

Naked Ice did a review of the ladies' SP and LP

I'm glad to see Zijun Li doing well, though she did have a few rotation issues in the LP. I really like Yasmin too! She gives a lot more to the choreography than most other juniors; she's just gotta get her jumps under control.

Li was quite lovely. I think she has a bright future.

Nice to see the very rare triple flip - half loop - triple Salchow from Liinamae.
