Err, Russia's in the lead and has been for quite a while. Australia is second.

Australia were leading last time I looked. Anyway Russia 1-2 and Australia 3. It always astounds me how Russia can keep churning out such excellent athletes year after year. Quite a number either did not finish or were DQ'd.

For each Junior worlds and youth worlds they bring 2(3 for European events) athletes in each gender and go home with 2 medal(most of the time). I am always surprised how they rarely manage to sweep the podium (I know it is an endurance event and many things go wrong during the event). Most of the race walkers come from a tiny republic in Russia called Mordovia, in fact all three world gold medalist in last two world championships( Kaniskina, Borchin , Bakhulin, Kirdyapkin) are all from Mordovia. So is Kirdyapkina, Kanyakin and Nizhegorodov, other race walking medalists at this worlds.

I'm well and truly fed up to the back teeth with all the talk about Oscar Pistorius. Enough alfcuckingready.

High Jump is on. That Irish girl looks absolutely tall. Hopefully she betters her PB but not a good start at 189cm. Seems she did make it. Stupid Eurosport cutting away to ads.

    And here comes the Hurdles.

Wells and George through from 1st heat of 100m hurdles. Urech will have to see if she can through as fastest loser. Nevin Yanit 13.31 in 7th place...

At least one Canadian to the final in the 100M hurdles, personal best for George. I'm glad someone on the Canadian team is peaking for this event. (One of the other athletes who didn't do well said he had peaked a month ago...another was confused by the surging tactics in one of the races. Don't their coaches teach them about that???)

Perdita Felicien will not go through to the final as she is only 3rd fastest loser right now.

It will be interesting to see if she even makes the Olympics next year with Lopes coming back and George and Holder improving ...

Porter and Carruthers through to final. Porter sets GB record and PB of 12.56. Looking good for a medal.

No idea. I'm guessing an injury or otherwise she'd be there.

Can't see past Sally Pearson for gold even though she's on the programme cover today.
