The models had this recurving out to sea for the longest but now some of them bend her back W or WNW towards the U.S. She could still recurve after that but the models don't run that far so not sure what the coming days will show. Definitely keeping an eye on it.

Both TWC & NHC seem to show a slight turn westward Tuesday as a major hurricane. I hope not. We'll just have to watch over the week-end to see how the models forecast it's track for Thursday/Friday. We could have an unpleasant week end coming up.

ETA: Latest update still shows a gradual western to NW curve by Wednesday putting the east coast from FL to NC as possible landfall. It is still too far out to get a really good read on it, but the various models seem to be in very close agreement about the projected path. I hope they are wrong & this thing turns NE and goes to sea to die.

I have mixed feelings about the agricultural impact of Irene and future storms. While it's tragic how much produce has been lost, I really don't mind the fact that tobacco crops are in bad shape. I feel so sad for the farmers themselves. But not for the tobacco companies.

TWC & the NHC have it curving north during the week now taking the Gulf of Mexico & FL out of the picture. The Carolinas & points north are in the picture as of now, but, this thing is still so far away that they could be out of harm's way in a day or 2. I hope so.

VT and the other areas hit hard by rainfall from Irene definitely do not need more heavy rain. Northern NY and VT are currently under flash flood warnings for tomorrow and Monday. The remnants of Ike may dump rain this far north too

It was mentioned on TWC that one of the things Lee could would be to force Katia further east. Sounds good to me. I hope that's what happens.
