No wonder the producers have problems attracting stars.
Once you go the reality tv and d-list stars route there's only one way to go. The celebrities might be afraid what the association will do to their profile.

Regarding Snooki, it seems that Mark often gets the really short ladies. Shawn J. and Kristi Y. come to mind, so there's hope.

When should we start hearing solid rumors about the new cast? Shouldn't they be starting rehearsals about now if the show starts up again in September? I thought they usually had about a month prep time?

They seem to try and tie in the "reveal" with the finale or premier of some other show, so they'll probably do a special around the time some summer show is ending.

My stylist is doing a local version of DWTS as a charity event. He's the pro and gets some TV newsperson. They were assigned a tango, but he's going to make it more of a Paso since he figures the *judges* won't know any better. They're local celebs as well. He's tall and I told him he should look at Evan/Anna's Paso on You tube. He wanted to do the Argentine tango, but didn't figure he could teach his partner in time.

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Amidst fan suggestions that dancer/actor Derek Hough be cast as Johnny Castle in the upcoming "Dirty Dancing" remake, the 26-year-old told People that he will be returning to the fall season of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."

Arguably the show's most popular "pro," Hough took a hiatus from season 12 of the competition series "to grow and expand a little bit as an artist," had said. During that time he starred in a dance movie, "Cobu 3D."

Wouldn't Tanith be considered cheating though? Well, more cheating than DWTS usually allows with the ringers who have danced already (I'm thinking of Nicole from the Pussy Cat Dolls among others). People have already complained about some of the past contestants having too much dancing background.
