You think my daughter will mind that I missed her skate at South Atlantics because I was watching Skate America? They both are SA, right?

Not on free TV. They will only have 3 hours on Saturday afternoon. The full event can be seen on the internet (icenetwork or universal.com--both require a paid subscription) or Universal Sports which requires either cable or DirectTV.

Gee. When it comes to Talent Shows, etc. They work it in with the Networks to help get everything in. Even if it's going to be 3hrs. But when sports come, they do a half-ass job (forgive the langage) and show only part of it. Why can't they just work everything in with the Networks when showing Skating?

Universal Sports has finalized its Grand Prix schedule. Looks like we're getting a pretty big reduction in coverage this year--no short programs from any event but the GPF.

The simple answer is that figure skating doesn't generate the advertiser revenue or viewership as other sports do, especially in non-Olympic years.

Disappointing. Can't they just save money by showing us commentary free versions of the SPs? There are so many obscure events/sports shown on Universal Sports...The ratings for skating cannot be that bad! I guess I just don't understand.

I think we'll probably get some short programs during the 2-hour broadcasts that are described as "free skate" for a single discipline.

DirectTV. I'm paying for it (the sports package that includes Universal Sports) but it's at my folk's place. I just got to see the World Gymnastics Championships over the weekend for once on tv rather than over the internet. I'm hoping for more to come with figure skating.

I want to beg Hisweirness to do her usual awesome job of collating the TV and Online list for the GP events. And a big thank you in advance.

In this area, you never know what will be chacked. But according to the local paper, NHK and Fashion on Ice are scheduled to be aired today, before football if I remember correctly.
