I'm nervous for Mark. He blew the live show. Who knew that Karl would nail it. I still think Mark is the better designer. However, I think Kellie will go this week.

    I'm guessing Kellie too...surprisingly.

But I've always liked Karl's designs so I'm pretty he did well.

That pink top on the host person is not doing her any favors. #designfail

Meg as winner? I'm surprised. I thought they'd go with Karl.

And Kellie goes home. Mark really, really dodged a bullet this week. He's better than what this week showed. I hope he get's his nerves under control next week and wins this show. I'd watch his show over the other two.

Not suprised that Kellie went. I got a little tired of the mom thing.
I just don't get Meg. She seems annoying, and acting 'cute'. I would not watch her show.
So happy that Karl did well. I like his insecurity, he seems real.
Mark - shocked how poorly he did, but glad he survivied.
I think Mark is more well rounded for a show, but I just like Karl.
In general I did not really like any of the rooms in this comp. Boring. A few nice elements, but the first impression of the rooms in total - nothing.

I don't get the Meg love either. I'm not certain what kind of show they'd do with Mark, but I usually love his overall design. It's very elegant and not over the top. Meg's is often a little tacky. Karl falls somewhere in the middle. I was surprised they gave the win to Meg. I would have gone with Karl, even though that *book* shelf was really impractical. You'd have to use a heavy book or only put some lightweight object on the shelf. I'd never use it. I do pay attention to what Mark does. Well, except for the *tinfoil* lamp. WTF was he thinking? Clearly a show repurposing common objects is not his strong point.

By this time, I can usually tell what kind of show HGTV had in mind and how the producers are manipulating the results. I think it's the Karl show... something focusing on how to work with architects and how to include architectural elements in a redo. Mark's only there 'cause he's pretty, and Meg is there for the "anyone can do this" factor.

Count me in as another who is confuzzled over the Meg love. I hated those stripes on her room and thought her story, complete with name, was weird.

They were kind of brats in this challenge, I thought. I think when most people redo a room, they do it for around 2500, and they do a better job than that. And they had furniture supplied! If it was 500, I'd understand their bitching.

I didn't like Meg's striped walls either. But I thought Karl's bookcases were impractical. If you used books as shelves and put stuff on top, you'd rarely use the book. Or you'd have shelves with nothing on them -- a waste of space. And there was a big blank space in between over the low TV.

Mark - WTF, a big blank wall on one side and earthquake shelves on the other.

Kellie's benches were cute, but the rest didn't stand out.

Out of all the rooms, I guess I liked Meg's the best, since it felt more complete, even though I didn't like the stripes either. But overall, I agree that some of Meg's designs come off as tacky/gaudy, and I can't see how HGTV would want to promote that. Yeah, she's got personality up the wazoo, but that's about it.

Before the HGTV'd challenge, I really liked Kelly, and wanted her to win. But she lost me as a fan when she refused to put bunk beds or sports lockers in that room, even though that's what the little boy really wanted. All because she doesn't know sporty, and didn't even want to try. So I wasn't really sad to see her go this week.

Overall, I think it's Mark's to lose. He's got the style, looks & personality that I think HGTV is looking for. Karl will come in second, I think.

Same here. I guess they were happy with it for now though. http://blog.hgtv.com/design-star/201...cer-episode-7/ But don't they usually have safety rails for kids if the bed is higher than standard? I can't recall how old he was, but the child didn't look that big.

Meg's neck is too thick for her to have a design show. Sorry, but I am shallow. I did like her room and her use of vertical mouldings.

I liked Kellie in the beginning, but her mom schtick got old and her designs have been awful the last two weeks. I'm also tired of her feigned excitement every time they announce the guest designer (Nate Berkus! Really? Squeal!!)

Karl and Mark have both been consistently good through the show, I'm happy for Karl that he presented well, and I'm glad Mark squeaked through his sub-par performance. I'd be OK with either winning in the end.

Meg is growing on me, but I agree with Genevieve about the L-brackets. It was a rather fresh, flirty room and they just looked a little too industrial. And "Grahame Wilcox" sounds like a Treasure Island Media pornstar.

    Karl!

    Tinfoil? Oy, Mark.......

I can't believe they liked Kellie's barstools, IMHO they looked cheap and poorly constructed.

Nate, you cute little pocket-gay. Do you own socks?

Tiny houses! I love tiny houses! I'm kinda excited as to what they do with them. Great final challenge idea.

I'm afraid for Mark. He keeps blowing the camera challenges. He has great ideas, but...I gather from the snippet of the judging that Meg is in the finals.

Why is Taneka wearing pink rubber boots?

They love Meg's so she's in. They love Karl's. (((((Mark)))))

I love pink, but those rubber boots are a fashion don't. If it's not raining, leave the damn rain boots off.

I liked Meg's tiny house best, but I thought all three of them were well done.

I would watch Mark because he's hot and he had really excellent design skills. I'd watch Karl because he's really likable and has practical skills. I don't like Meg for some reason. I really have no idea what kind of show they'd do for any of them, unless Mark had a chance to do high end designs. None of them are really do-it-yourself types.

I agree. Mark is , but I also really like a lot of the work he's produced over the season. I loved that combination living room/dining room he did a couple episodes back. I'm worried for him tonight though.

Meg has never really appealed to me. I liked what she did in that bed and breakfast, but I don't ever see myself watching her show. I think part of it might be that she has a voice like Marge Simpson's sister Selma.

(((((Mark))))) It was the camera challenges that did him in. He's an excellent designer, just not a TV host.
