    SYTYCD Top 16 June 29-30

I'm going to miss the first hour because of The Voice finale, but here's a thread, whee! I know there have been few spoilers this year because the shows are live, but anyone have news on this week's choreographers? I think someone said Kristin Chenoweth was the guest judge...
Q: Why can't I read the competition threads?
A: Competition forums on the board are available to those with a Season Pass or a premium membership How to View Kiss & Cry

Have fun, y'all. After last week's blatant machinations, I'm done with SYTYCD, just as I was with AI this past go around. I absolutely refuse to watch the "judges" slather and salivate of yet another ho-hum Ryan routine.

I have a feeling that SYTYCD will get creamed in the ratings tonite. Moving The Voice to 8 was a smart move on NBC's part. I suspect many will stay for AGT. I'll probably use the Tivo to watch both at the same time.

    I want Ryan gone.

Kristen Chenoweth as guest judge! She should be fun. But, I don't like how the guest spot has now turned into Letterman spot/SNL hosting gig.

Sooo... I just figured out why they cut Iveta last week:

There are now performance show group routines that aren't commented on but are taken into consideration on elimination night. If Iveta has been struggling in the group routines in general, which some have said (hidden at back, etc.), then maybe the judges decided to let her go last week rather than have her do badly in the group routine this week and likely get the cut this week instead.

ETA: Group 1 -- four couples -- "Hit the Road Jack" choreographed by Tyce

I didn't catch all the dancers and they don't seem to be divided by their established pairs.
    girls: Sasha, Ryan, Miranda, Clarice?
    boys: Tadd, Mitchell?

Don't you love the pieces that say "tour number" in the description?

Sasha and Alexander, contemporary by Dee C
    Piano prop
But cheesy premise of guy missing dead girl

I liked it a lot, premise aside.

So was Ryan front-and-center in this one?

To me, Alexander made that piece and again the judges are ninnies. He grabbed me and controlled me with that performance, Sasha was beautiful, but not on the same plane for me. Alexander made that dance, more than the actual choregraphy, IMO.

Agreed! And Kristen C basically said that.

Alexander dances the way Johnny Weir skates....with an introspective magic. I wonder if it translates better to the camera than watching from the audience. I think what they mean is that he needs to project that more. Sasha is a technically great dancer, but still lacks the fire of her sister...I'm hoping she finds it. I love them as a couple.

    Mitchell and Caitlyn -- Jean-Marc G samba

No clue on ballroom so can't comment.

I like this week's packages, but did we just learn that Mitchell's only been dancing for a short time? If he started at 15...?

Mary thought both were spectacular. And had her ears blown out with the music. Irony?

    And they're doing real critiques!

Mitchell's hips and body undulation are just gorgeous! He needs a little more development in the chemistry and partner relation, but the movement was just spectacular.

I didn't notice her as much, but she seemed to be doing fine.

I don't know what Mary is going on about, because I thought the hip action was weak in that. It should look effortless when one shakes one's booty, eys? That didn't look effortless from her. He was marginally better.

Ooh, Nigel just blamed Jean-Marc for exposing Wadi's weaknesses last week.

Mitchell could be a skater in those pants.

Are we watching the same show? (At least as regards Mitchell).

So who directed all the girls to do midair splits so we get a crotch shot from each during their intro?
