    Gachinski AND Plushenko! Great combination!

Plushenko vs Chan vs Gachinski vs Takahashi.

Wow. That's a strong battle right there.

Japan Open should be a great opportunity for Plushenko to stretch his legs again. I wouldn't be suprised to see him roll out some good artillery for that.

Can Japan Open be used towards a season's best, since it's ISU sanctioned?

Probably not because the skaters only perform a free skate.

I would rather oppose Chan and Takahashi
    and Artur and Evgeni
not all of them opposed to each other
as for now I, personally, don't see reasons to compare Artur and Patrik, for example.

Plushenko as well as Takahashi had less than stellar performances last year at The Japan Open and both were trounced by Adam Rippon who pulled off a 166+ score

I only wish that it could have been used towards a season's best for him. But it's more akin to a cheezefest.

I have also heard a rumor about the rule, but since the first year there was no such a year in which the "rule" was really implemented. There was always a team which is consisted only of eligible skaters.

Besides, it is not like they always beat teams with a pro.

Yes. There are a lot of fs fans interested in her and I'm sure the audience will be thrilled to get to see her live and the Mishin camp : she, Zhenya, Artur and probably Mr. (and Mrs?) Mishin.

Does anyone know if the source of the following post is reliable?

Kiira will skip Japan Open 2011
    http://www.kiira-korpi.net/2011/09/1...pan-open-2011/
According to a Finnish journalist, Kiira will skip Japan Open 2011 due to leg pain.

The injury seemed not serious at all but they decided to skip the competition just to be safe.
Wonder who's going to fill the spot.

I am not surprised about Plushenko. Didn't he recently have surgery? I can't imagine him skating at a high level this early.

Last year it was Brezina. Too bad about Plushenko but he did have to take 10 days off of training anything I believe.

It's a pro-am, both eligible and pro skaters can participate. It's a team competition. Each of the single skaters skates his/her LP, and then the scores are added. There are 3 teams: Japan, North America and Europe.

Japan Open usually ends with Carnival on Ice, a show starring all of the competitiors and some guest skaters.

Kozuka over Takahashi ? No, no, no. Not for me . Buttle is very close, though .

Great cast. Even without Plushenko and Korpi.
