This was a tad cheesy but TOTALLY gorgeous. Perhaps that is the most emotional I've ever seen her look, bar Vancouver. Although I'm confused; I thought they were already engaged? Or was this the actual marriage? Or...what??

"And then your grandfather got down on one skate..."

That was very sweet -- congratulations to them.

Wow that was Lang Lang - as witness and possible best man?

I must admit, I don't normally like cheesy public moments, but then if you live on the skating rink for most of your lives together and the only gratification had been each other's company, encouragements; some medals along the way, and just live for crowd responses, it seems quite apt.

He started by saying he want to give thanks. Then proceed to give speech about being together for 18 years following an impossible dream. But todays dream is wanting to skate with her forever and ever, Pang Qing, Marry me!!

(Presenter made him to repeat the question again)
Tong - Will you Marry me?? (On one Knee)

    Pang - I accept.

(Lang Lang impromptu performance? Rather simple tune for Lang Lang. What a superstar!!)

The crowd seems to be in shock, so polite and unenthusiastic for some reason.

    ------

The sound track they played at the end is from Forrest Gump, which is simply epic! A story of a life time on ice, started simply, unintelligently, without much thoughts or expectations probably, yet historically lows/highs - 18 years! Talk about the longest dating experience ever!! So happy for them, and finally he pops the question!!

I love them, but this year, they gave me a weird vibe. Every competition they entered, they've been talking to the press about how he might propose at the end of the competition, every single competition, maybe not the two GP series ones. Just feel like they're almost hyping themselves up and trying to get more attention. And most people in China knew that Tong's going to propose to her at Art on Ice yesterday, so it wasn't a surprise. I know some people are going to come out and attack me now for saying this, but it's just my IMO.

xy3026rosa since you always bring up news about Chinese skaters, why don't you start a thread "Yan Liu got married, congratuation!" ?? I think she deserves at least SOME attention in China right? after being their #1 single ladies skater for so long.

. John Baldwin's public proposal was self-serving, egotistical, barf-inducing, etc.
. Tong's public proposal was "sweet", "gorgeous", "very nice", ...

I hate any sort of public proposal. Do thousands of strangers really need to know how "clever" you think you are at executing the proposal? Ugh.

Haha impossible dream. But he said impossible dream in English which means that he was probably referring to their 2010 free skate.

Is that true or just an exagerated assumption? If it's true, my congratulations! Yan Liu does deserve some attention. She had very solid jumps and one of the few who did all the triples. Her skating was lovely. I personally think she's been underrated quite a bit.
