Hope your cousin had a terrific 95th birthday luncheon - good for him/her..
Thanks and she did. Funniest moment was when her niece who had just gotten back from a cruise of part of Latin America/Mexico sat down beside Freda and was asked how the cruise was. Elaine started gushing about how great a time she had and after all that, Freda asked her where the man was. Elaine looked at her sister Gloria, who was on Freda's other side, and the both of them had these very worried and puzzled looks on their faces.

Finally Elaine asked what man was her Aunt talking about and Freda lets loose w/how when a single woman takes a Cruise, she always comes back w/a man and where was Elaine's? That just about finished everyone and I'm grateful the chair I was in had arm rests to grab on to, otherwise I would have fallen out of it and on our deck I was laughing so hard.

She may be 95, but there's nothing all the matter w/her mind.

I was so happy The Unsinkable Molly Brown was shown last month, as I finally got it on DVD. Along w/one of my all time favourites, Bringing Up Baby. Been trying to get that on either tape or DVD for years now w/out much success, but finally got it this time round.

Now, if only I'd remembered when North By Northwest was on that same day...Oh well, there'll be another time.

Sorry, Henry; Christopher Reeve, God rest him, will always be my cinematic image of "Superman".

Coud not agree more. It was Reeve's role; anyone else is a poor substitute, better CGI or not.

Sort of like for me, Sean Connery can be the only James Bond. The rest are ersatz...

You didn't like Daniel Craig? I'm not a big Bond fan in general, but "Casino Royal" was an excellent film.

I absolutely loved Daniel Craig, BUT, Sean Connery is still THE James Bond; all the others are play pretend, including Craig, who does come a close second.

This. Craig was okay. But I absolutely am mad about Connery's Bond.

There's a quality about Connery that no one else has had. He was cast in the part when, after the interview, the producers looked out the window and saw him walking across the street. There was a hungry kind of pantherish gait to Connery's walk and this is what got him the job.

If the Connery/Bond of Dr. No could sing, he would be my ideal casting for Almaviva in the Marriage of Figaro. Almaviva needs to be young and sexually dangerous, not a middle-aged fuddy-duddy having a midlife crisis as so many productions have him.

Just a heads-up that Sunset Boulevard is on TCM tonight, starting at 8pm EDT.

…...Is everyone ready for their close-up?

He was absolutely beautiful in his heyday...I enjoyed some of his non-Bond flicks like A Fine Madness and A Woman of Straw.

I knew this guy who, every New Year's threw a party at his house. And every year, without fail, at midnight, he'd stand at the top of the stairs and say, "Tell Mr. DeMille I'm READY for my CLOSEUP now..", and without blinking, drop his pants and expose himself...

Don't you just love how Hollywood influences our lives??

I NEVER get tired of that movie! If I ever have my nervous breakdown, I wanna do it Norma-style!

I've always been sorta "meh" about Bill Holden, but he looked damn good in a swimsuit, c.1950.

Aw, and isn't Max just a doll?

….Just how close-up did this guy want Mr. DeMille (or anyone at the party) to get?

If he needs a closeup to prove that he has a penis then I feel sorry for him

I was watching "The Social Network" to point out my pal's cousin to my mother. This woman has a brief speaking role in one scene. She's done movies, the stage, tv series, soaps, commercials, corporate "how to" films ...just about everything but porn (as far as I know.) If I ever meet her I want to know if she is more pleased with being in an Oscar caliber movie or the much meatier roles she had on tv or on the stage. She interests me because most actors/actresses don't have the careers of the folks we've been talking about in this thread but she keeps at it. I know she hates the corporate stuff but it pays the bills. I guess this comes under the "whatevah."

He was a sugar daddy - throwing around some of his usually got him a bedmate - for a time.

Oh, some us of needed proof. He sorta looked like Mrs. Howell from Gilligan's Island.
