Jurassic Park - Not because of Tonya Harding, though - I just love the music and John Williams soundtracks in general
Little Women, Sense & Sensibility, Much Ado About Nothing - Tara
Life is Beautiful - Dubreuil & Lauzon (bought it long before Jeremy skated to it)
Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves - a pair skating team skated to it in the early 1990's - fell in love with the score
Legends of the Fall - Dan Hollander

BTW - one of my favorite CDs of all time - Summon the Heroes - John Williams & the Boston Pops - this Olympic CD (Atlanta 1996) has a lot of music that a number of skaters have skated to (about 1/2 of the CD), but I love all the music on it

I would love to get a copy of East of Eden, if I ever come across it!
You and I share many of the same CD's..I basically bought any movie soundtrack that Paul Wyle and Todd Eldredge ever skated to..

Most of MK's including, my two yr search for EAST of EDEN...Took me from 96-98 to find it..

    My favorite find:

    http://www.amazon.com/Alwyn-Angelica.../dp/B000000APK

    Barnum..because of Torville and Dean..

Danny Wright - Healer of hearts because of Worzel/Steuer
Raoul di Blasio - because of Irina Slutskaya and also Maria Butyrskaya
Robert Wells - Rhapsody in Rock - I think it was Andrej Vlaschenko who used his music

All 3 artists were people I'd never heard of till I researched the programme music for the lists I keep with my DVDs, and the entire Danny Wright CD turned out to be wonderful. Coincidentally, I was just playing it earlier tonight before I found this thread, and several years after I bought it.

Along these lines, the late Eva Cassidy was made immensely more popular by Michelle skating to her version of Fields of Gold.

that was how I got to know her...and took "Fields of Gold"

then music I got to love thanks to skating:
    • "The man in the Iron Mask" (Yags)
    • Edwin Marton - zhenya
    • ne me quitte pas - stephane
    • carmina burana (many, but especially when Totmianina/Marinin used it in a gala, IIRC 2005..)
    • Pachelbel's Canon - CaroK
    • Mission - already loved the film&the music, but it really grew a lot after Torino06 (there was what...6-7 Mission soundtracks?)
    • west side story (many, I remember especially Belbin&Agosto, IIRC 2004)
    • Chaplin (Bereznaya&Sikharulidze)
    • Josh Groban - Lambiel Romeo&Juliet program
    • night on a bald mountain - goebel, khoklova
    • many of denkova&staviski...especially I can't stop thinking of them when I hear "goodbye my lover"
    • like, speaking of blunt, "beautiful" will always pop up in my mind Lambiel
    • rota - sasha cohen
    • nessun dorma - shen&zhao

then also a lot of classical music was added to my mp3 because of skating, but I think I can't name a specific skater for Carmen&co.!

I bought this CD of "Nuevo Tango Ensamble" because it had two tracks which were used by Stéphane Lambiel in his programs: "Crane Cruda" (2007/8) and "Otoño Porteño" (2008/9).

It was rather unusual for him to use pieces from the same CD so I guessed the rest might be interesting too. Loved it.

Fields of Gold. I used to skate around the rink listening to it on my Ipod pretending to be MK.

I am a huge soundtrack freatk!! Used to collect modern composers way before the movie even come out and sometimes don't even bother watch the film; but skating wise, Michelle Kwan's Red Violin (way before the film come out in the UK....of course!).

The whole music was mysterious, abstract, intriguing. A fusion of sounds through the simple ancient acoustic instruments. I found the music gripping and bewitching thanks to Michelle hence really inspired me.

OT - One of the thing I love the most about classical instruments is its authenticity of sound. Similar to figure skating, despite all the 'packaging', at its core, it is one of the few authentic sports that has little progress in terms of performance enhancement equipment except may be in the shape of the blade catered for each skater.

I believe the first I ever purchased was a CD by the Gipsy Kings because I first heard a tune by them skated to by Brian Boitano "Un Amor". Some years later I recall I purchased a CD by Enigma because I heard Oksana Baiul skating to "Sadness", two other Baiul inspired purchases were Ottmar Liebert's "Duende Del Amor" and of course perhaps from one of her most famous exhibition pieces Peter Gabriel's "The Feeling Begins".

I'd love it if Mirai did a "Pirates II" program to this. Although technically this isn't from part 2.

    paskatefan, it occasionally appears:

    http://www.amazon.com/East-Eden-Lee-.../dp/B001PI8OOU
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Soundtrack-East-...item1c1c9464b0

Several more LP's are on eBay.

    1. Summertime - Peter Gabriel version ( very lyrical and soulful - K. Witt skated to)
    2. Yello - tape (K. Witt skated to that piece that sounds like cars)
    3. Bond CD (inspired by Yagudin's "Winter" program
    4. "Paradise" - Kaci (Gordeeva skated to/Spanish language version is better)
    5. "Bolero" Torvill and Dean
Probably more, but that is all I can think of right now.

I got interested in Gene Kelly from hearing skaters talk about him so much (bought "Singing in the Rain" and "An American in Paris" dvds).

Sometimes skaters steal my ideas. I had cut Bollywood music similar to Davis and White's the same season they came out with theirs

In summer 1998 I bought a brass band version of St. James Infirmary because I had found the tune haunting in Tatiana Malinina's short program the previous season, and Grishuk & Platov's 1993 free dance. But I couldn't find the same orchestration.

I used it for my adult bronze skating program.

Purely coincidence that Maria Butyrskaya and Vanessa Gusmeroli also chose that tune for short programs the next season.

I had never heard Dave Brubek's Take Five before Shishkova-Naumova skated to it in 92. I loved it and I bought the music. later I saw other skaters skate to it too (Chen Lu, Torville-Dean)

I downloaded Winter from Bond because of Yagudin's SP from 2002 but also ended up getting Victory and Libertango and something else recently just because I love their music.
