Next Food Network Star, Season 7

Food porn lovers rejoice--Food Network Star returns tonight. This season, the emphasis is definitely on the young and the

There are several "bad boy" types, a few obvious granolas, and maybe even a real chef or two. There's not a lot on the site about their culinary backgrounds, which is

Maybe there will be some to be had along with the pretty.

Early on, I'm going for Juba, cause he's from New Orleans. And attractive.

Other news, Giada is stepping up to judgehood and will not be mentor. Which I'm kinda meh about. She was an OK mentor, I guess, in the sense that she made nice wallpaper. I imagine she'll be about the same as a judge.

Penny could be on the American version of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. The Frat Boy belongs on that show too.

I missed the first half-hour. It seems a bit male-heavy this season....maybe they want someone to replace Tyler Florence and Emeril?

If Alton ain't happy, ain't no one happy. I wonder if he started losing/pulling out his hair when he started guesting heavily on this show. Someone look back and see if he had a full head of hair right before the first season of Food Network Star.

Alton doesn't look good that skinny. He looks older and more haggard.

    Juba is really stank.

Really not liking the frat boy. "Victory" beer? Is he 19? I'd understand fighting for it if it was for a dish, but just to drink when you're close to budget?

Penny and Alycia are equally annoying. I can't decide who I want to leave more--Gypsy, Cotton Ball Mouth, or Frat Brat. So as long as one of them does.

Penny is really mean. She should be helping her teammate, not making rude comments! Poor Justin, he must have wondered what the hell he did to deserve being with them!

Yes, Penny, if you say "sexy" one more time, it might actually come true. Like Beetlejuice. Wearing too much eye make-up and talking about the sensuality of the fennel does not a sexy beast make.

And flashing your t*ts doesn't make you empowered.

They loved the puree! Take that, frat! I don't think she's all that empowered either. There's a difference between being sexy and confident and being slutty and sad. If you have to tell people you're sexy ad nauseum, you're probably not.

I have to say, that the way most of these people have acted has made not want to watch a show with any of them.

There are a few diamonds in the rough, IMO. Orchid and Whitney seem the most natural to me.

    I during this exchange:

Penny: "I really think fennel is a sexy vegetable."
    Bob: "Why?"
    Penny: "Err I don't know, it's shape."

Orchid and Whitney are the only two I like right now. The food seems good this time around though. I'd like to get the recipes for many of the dishes tonight.

Wow, Howie. I'd have sent home Vic. With Howie as a close second, but Vic should have gone. He didn't get food on the plate twice!

Either Howie or Vic going home would have been fine with me. Both had strong reasons for going.

And it looks like Alicia is going to cry, cry, cry some more next week.

    Orchid for the win!!
