Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe.
Wow. Wasn't expecting that at all.
And I have to say it now, It's been a good life all in all, It's really fine to have a chance to hang around
The piece is seventy-five minutes long...[l]ong enough for an idea to be developed, but not so long that one starts to measure the number of seats to the exits with desperation if the thing doesn’t work" -- Marina Harss
The Skate Canada release has some comments from Mike Slipchuk
“Vanessa and Paul are both tremendous athletes, who carved out their own special place in the ice dance world, and were terrific competitors and ambassadors for Canada at both the junior and senior levels. I look forward to seeing them continuing to contribute to figure skating in new ways.”
OMG ! What a shock !
I loved them. I really hope that Paul Poirier will continue, he is so good.
This took me by surprise in 1 way but not another. Granted I never got into this particular team, but all season long they've been consistent on the GP, made the podium but at Worlds were clearly beaten by W & P. Maybe Paul will find another partner.
I'm happy they won their national title. Hope V & M and W & P stay for Sochi!!
Personal issues? If so, you'd think they'd been together long enough and had also reached a mature enough age to work things out... unless they had a Dube/Davison situation and things got awkward fast.
Technical/artistic issues? Having said the above, you'd think they're also both young enough to work through and grow out of any flaws.
Money? They're reigning national champions so shouldn't they have a much easier time with funding and sponsors than, say, if they were ranked 10th in Canada?
The only thing I can think of is the relative lack of a physical size difference as compared to other teams? - if that was an issue, it must be difficult to do the increasingly complicated lifts that we see in ice dance.
Sad to see, since they had such a strong start this past season and they were very enjoyable to watch as they rose up the ranks the last few years.
this is quite the dramatik off season
Q: Why can't I read the competition threads?
A: Competition forums on the board are available to those with a Season Pass or a premium membership How to View Kiss & Cry
I remember being impressed with them when I went to NHK in 2009 because of their athleticism; they did double axels in their exhibition piece. I was also impressed by their performance at Skate Canada in 2010 and really loved their long program choreographed to Ellen O'Rigby. Unfortunately, their performance levels went down from there.
We met Paul Poirier's father in McDonalds; he started talking to us and asked if we had a skater. He was really surprised when we told him that we were really big skating fans.
This is another shock for the season, but I guess that it's now or never in preparation for the 2014 Olympics.
Wow big shock Hope they are happy in their future careers.
Dont Hate! Gyrate!
Aww, I like those 2 a lot.
Poirier and Chock? Just putting it out there.
Wow! Shocked...didn't see this coming.

I loved their last two free dances, particularly how they performed them on the GP. Their choreography, use of theme, and ability to set a mood in their programs was top notch. I had hoped to watch them perform for several more years.
first of the off season??
