Yes but he refused to pay income tax and went to jail for 2 years. From what i have read he has had trouble getting work in shows since then. That was many years ago. I would guess he is living in Canada, he can't enter the U.S.

In his professional career, Gary Beacom was pretty much a genius on the ice.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iJLlBn8-pE

Such creativity, such control (check out the other youtube vids of Gary through the above link). I was surprised to learn that even as an amateur Gary competed without a coach for many years (in essence, coaching himself which is very unusual). Too bad the tax incident and jail destroyed his professional career.

I remember seeing Gary in a COI show with a female skater in a very unique and unusual routine, which I can't readily find on youtube.

Here's more both pro and amateur: (As an amateur, they didn't know how to categorize or score a lot of his moves) --

And this from 2010 -- great

Is that the one where they have skates on their hands? He did that with Gia Guddat. I have the clip in my downloads.

If you are really nice I could send it to you to download. But you have to beg!

Gia Guddat is currently coaching in Sun Valley, Idaho.

I believe Gary went to the 1984 Olympics without a coach and came in 10th. Sheldon Gailbraith was his coach for many years.

The Christmas before last in Sun Valley, Gia Guddat performed a routine with skates on hands and feet during the annual free Christmas Eve ice show. PML.

She and Beacom were a fixture on US t.v. pro shows during the 90s. (The skates on all fours routines were their bread an butter until he ditched Guddat in favor of his future wife.)

Beacom choreographed the Skate Canada gala closing (and maybe the opening) in Victoria in 2006.

    One.of.a.kind.

Beethoven's Fifth. With bracket/brackets synched perfectly to the music around 1:30. Among other things. I think the guy has a phenomenal musical sense.
