    Adam Rippon's Quad Lutz

    Here's a clip from 3/21.

Looks pretty darn good to me! Maybe a tad under-rotated, but definitely not a full downgrade.

I'm not sure if he will be successful with it in competition, but if anything, I hope it will be a shot across the bow and encourage other US men like Dornbush to start practicing the 4toe, and Mroz and Abbott to redouble their efforts to get their 4toes back

Dornbush has been landing 4T in his practice, though not consistent yet. Also, not too long ago I saw Jeremy landed a beautiful 4T during the practice session for a show. I hope he'll bring it back in his programs next season.

I've seen Adam's 4Lz. They were still a bit cheated, but looked pretty darn good.

It's looks pretty good to me. Needs a little more practice getting the height.

Who is Adam training with now?

Seemed like a good jump to me.

Here is a clip of an attempt by Vladislav Sezganov

Very impressive attempt. Adding a quad (or two) worked for Chan by taking pressure off the axel in terms of his TES. Hopefully it can do the same for Rippon.

I'll reserve judgement until I see it in competition. Male skaters have been doing quads in practice since the 1980's. Competition is another story.

He really needs to work on that 3 axel. I don't think he can win without it.

I think at this point, the 3x is going to be hit or miss, no matter how hard he works on it. It's the same with Patrick Chan. It was the same with Lambiel. When the 3x is elusive most of the time, it can be good to work on quads to compensate for the lack of it. If Rippon gets a consistent quad lutz in competition, the 3x won't be as important and he'll be competitive.

I'm reserving judgement until I see it in competition too. Seeing there was talk of a 4toe that never materialized either.

But as for the 3axel? what if Yu-na had refused to learn a 3lutz, 3flip, and 3/3s until she got her 3loop perfect. Same goes for Mao and her jumps. I highly doubt Adam ISN'T working to fix his 3axel, but at this point a quad would only help his cause. He can work on both.

Good for Rippon! Of course it's still a long way from landing a succesful one in competition but you'll never get it if you don't practice...

... I'm up for anything to get Adam back to again.

The 4L is even more awesome when viewing it in half time.

Is anyone else getting an advertisement for cell phones at the top of the page that starts with "Too good to be true?"

This looks good, if a bit underrotated. The 3axel still looks... not exactly effortless. I agree that Adam needs a quad if he wants to be competitive, because the axel might never be a "money jump" for him.
