I wonder why Mihara is selected before Sakamoto. They might have some strategies. It depends on how many spots they have for the later JGPs.

Shoji and Nishino are pure waste of money, IMO.

I think Ando will be sent to NRW if she passes the requirement tests.

oh, never knew, you are so nmura
i can't see anything in shojis skating either, for nishino it's different. she is kinda caroline zhang in a less succesful version. promising at juniors, never managed to really crash in seniors. (i know zhang has international medals, that's why i said less succesful version). i like nishinos skating, she had a great short at last years nationals (i think so) and i would have liked to even see her at 4cc.

that's my hope. oh, this would give an absolutely satisfying end for me as a big ando fan. i never was at any isu competition (i 'm from germany) but you can bet, if ando will be sent to dortmund, i will stand at the rink and scream my a...off

Team Japan camp in Armenia video.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFKG5pedFfQ

They spent a week there. Aslo Lambiel was there as a temporary coach. Loved Machida's posture. Lambiel might give Nobu some advice about his FS, William Tell Overture.

I posted related article in Nobu's thread in TTC http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/show...=1#post3988864
Aslo posted Akiko's photos in her thread in TTC. http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/show...=1#post3989953

What music is Machida skating to? For a Grand Prix event winner, we hear so little about him. Obviously, it is because of the ridiculous level of talent and depth amongst the Japanese men. But still.

I think he's keeping the Firebird program from last season, but I am not so sure...

In the brief clip of Machida..it sounded like East of Eden..and it did seem to be his runthrough...that may be a SP though

At Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy(August 8-11) Machida skated to Firebird so I think he's keeping it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Lx6lytVwNQ And this is the result of the competition http://www.fsatresults.com/AOFST2013...ndexAOFST.html He did 4T,4T3T,3A,3A2T,3Lo,3Lz,3F,3S2T2T in his FS although jumps were not all clean. He won the competition but his SP was not successful. Someone who was there tweeted during the competition that Machida didn't want his SP to be public including the music choice. So this is the first time for me to see a tip of his SP(if East of Eden is his SP this season) which is involved in the Armenia camp video I posted above.

Shanetta Folle is joining team Mao again in this Olympic season as a part time coach?
    http://web.icenetwork.com/news/2013/...-coach-at-berc
Folle will then go back to her Japanese base and come back to work with Amodio on a steady basis.
    http://www.lequipe.fr/Patinage-artis...-cadeau/400815
Shanetta Folle worked with TAT when TAT choreographed Mao's FS in this summer in NY.

As it was mentioned in the k'n'c (thanks to eislauffan) and meanwhile officialy confirmed:

Miki Ando will give her competitve comeback at Nebelhorn Trophy in 10 days.

Didn't see that coming that fast, but seems like the test skate was kinda impressive for the japanese fed.
german competition hosts could be quite lucky with yu-na last year and miki this year.

fingers crossed. rock the ice miki!

well, that's a surprise...the jumps she showed in the Shizuka Show were reallly a struggle and it was a 2a and 3s
But she's a great jumper, one of the best in history, maybe she doesn't need that much time or competitions

Just caught Oda's short program from Nebelhorn, and he looks fantastic. Easy breezy quad, huge triple axel, great steps and some engaging choreography. We'll have to wait until the free skate to see if he's learned to count to three, but he looks like he will definitely be challenging for the Olympic team.

Has any country ever had so much depth? Four world medalists, including a World champion, sadly vying for only three spots.
"I miss footwork that has any kind of a discernible pattern. The goal of a step sequence should not be for a skater to show the same ice coverage as a Zamboni and take about as much time as an ice resurface. " ~ Zemgirl, reflecting on a pre-IJS straight line sequence

So sad that Japan can't have 4 Olympic spots for men. I would like to see Takahashi AND Oda AND Kozuka AND Hanyu. Oda was definitively breathtaking at Nebelhorn Trophy. Pure joy.

I just learned that. For some reason I though he won bronze one year.
