So I am tired of hearing that Caitlyn is so superior to Caydee. And I hope, if the rumor is true that John and Caydee make a few people eat their words. I trust the skaters and coaches know what they are doing. Creating a team with a greater size difference may enable the team to really shine athletically.
I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous. Caitlin was a godsend for John. She covered up his many stylistic weaknesses and together they had a sexy sophistication that worked because of their contrasting styles (and it worked internationally because of Caitlin's wonderful lines and extension.) Caydee Denney, god bless her, has none of that. Caydee and John will be lucky (very lucky) if they can achieve the same international "success" Caydee/Jeremy did. They are still looking down the line at a 7-8 year age difference between the two of them, not a big improvement from the 9 year age difference between Caydee and Jeremy.

This rumor that has been started by jealous skate moms that Caitlin is somehow a diva and difficult to work with I find very convenient. I'm also very skeptical of all the self-proclaimed insiders on this thread with somewhere between 1-15 posts ever on FSU who are bashing Caitlin left and right.

I am not trying to say Caitlyn isn't a great skater. I'm just trying to say that while she is more gracefully, I like the spunk and spark of Caydee and can see real potential in this rumored pairing between her and John. Apparently some judges like Caydee too or the scores between Caydee and Jeremy and Caitlyn and John for the past two seasons would not have been so close. I am also saying that if the pairing of Caydee and John ends up happening, we as fans should be supportive and give it a chance instead of assuming that there is no way this new pairing could be as good as the former pairings. I also hope Caitlyn finds a great partner. I am tired of all of these skaters getting bashed and I am looking forward to cheering for whatever teams the skaters and coaches develop.

If they both come back with different partners next season, I'm hoping for some viciously over-the-top tv coverage a la the Grishuk and Platov / Usova and Zhulin partner swap.

"And the villains wore white" is one of my favorite commentary lines. Maybe Caydee and John can skate to Smooth Operator or, even better, Principles of Lust. Ah, I miss the golden age of skating drama!

I'd really love to know what's going on with our Partnerships. Is this some kind of joke?

I'd also like to suggest that some also be sent to send Caydee to Karponosov for his famous stroking class. She has the scratchiest blades I've ever heard live, so I think that would be well spent.

I'm just so flabbergasted by this decision. We finally have a pair that the international judges really like and they break up the week after their triumph for Worlds. If John and Caydee pair up, they're never going to make it to 6th in the World without some MAJOR work on their artistry and technique, particularly from her.

I agree -- I think Denney and Coughlin are more suited stylistically to each other than Yankowskas and Coughlin. Hopefully out of one fine pair, we'll get two better-suited ones.

I also agree that there isn't that much difference between Denney/Barrett's 7th and Yankowskas/Coughlin's 6th at Worlds to make a definitive judgement about what international judges will reward, regardless of their preferences.

Gotta say, I didn't see any bashing in your examples - critique isn't the same as the personal bashing that reroemer was talking about.

I liked Denney/Barrett. I like Caydee Denney and have wanted her to find a good partner to continue.

I just didn't want her to find one by breaking up Y/C.

    Yes.

I always liked D/B, and I like Caydee. But Y/C made a big international splash at Worlds; both specialists/commentators from different countries and skating fans were praising their individual style , and stylistic refinement. Not to take away from John's skills, but those comments were mainly due to Caitlin's SS, carriage and presentation. Having one partner who was very strong artistically united the pair and showcased John well in his own right.
If he skates with Caydee, they will have similar strengths and deficiencies; and unless they show great progress in SS, they both will accentuate each other's weaknesses. It is hard to imagine a team competing at the highest level with inferior SS.
Still, of course I wish everybody the best; but especially- a strong partner for Caitlin (who, incidentally, turned 21 just yesterday ))))

    Thank you Genevieve.

I think some posters need to lay off the personal comments regarding these skaters weaknesses as we see it and consider the positive things they contribute to the sport and the potential strengths they have. I am also choosing to have faith that the skaters and coaches know what they are doing. It seems if you are a young girl in skating you need to be prepared to be vilified on these message boards.

I love both teams, D/B and Y/C, and it's very sad that they split. I hope all find new partners. What about Themi? Is he still skating with Lindsey? Is Drew still skating? There must be somebody out there that good enough to pair with Caitlin. She is very petite, not hard to find partner. I think she is slimmer than Caydee.

I think John Baldwin and Michael Weiss would be surprised to be described as young girls. Morozov too...but he probably wouldn't object to being lumped together with young girls

This may sound totally crazy, but after re-watching Caitlin's long program from Moscow, I think she will look great with Lysacek.
This could be an intriguing opportunity for him to return to Olympic game without a risk of repeating Plushenko. Plus he can capitalize on his DWS experience. Just imaging media coverage!

No, I need to check program you have mentioned. This was based on pure aesthetic qualities and I was just intrigued by idea of having another Khokhlova/Andreev development.

I think the critique is questionable when two skaters are being discussed and the critique is of only one skater.

There are lots worse things that could be said about both skater (many of which have already been said by other posters) but arguing against bashing skaters while simultaneously criticizing only one skater is somewhat to me.

    why?

reroemer wasn't saying no one should say anything against anybody, only that people were going too far.

I have always dreamed about Evan skating pairs! Evan has the determination and work ethic to make it happen! (If it is something he wants to pursue).
