I could not help thinking that Lambiel would have been so perfect with this music!

Weir´s costume suited the music really well!
The reason I say I'd like to see it on film in a quiet rink is because that's how I think this program would work best. I know Johnny worked very hard to have a concept for this program. It starts with criticisms of him and then goes into praise...and then the Piaf music begins. He's had ups and downs, and he regrets nothing.I know that this music means a lot to him, and I personally enjoyed the performance. For my money no one is as graceful or fluid as Johnny...particularly considering he was in Japan last week, then NYC, and must be absolutely spent. But I do think it's hard to make that particular program, where the choreography is designed to recall some of his well known programs, work well in a loud arena. It's hard to hear the spoken part, so it's hard to tell what he's trying to do with his movements.

I agree with you about the costume. I love his versatility with looks/moods.

well,I once want to write down the all feelings from the beginning, but seems you alll concern about Johnny, then Johnny first

but it may hurt fans,it's just my opinion,I don't ask you to agree with me,if you don't want to see criticism, don't read this post, thank you.

Johnny is the biggest star of the night, obviously.only Vladimir Besedin/Oleksiy Plishchuk got louder ovations, but they have no fans before, nearly all the audience saw them for the fist time.Johnny have planty of die-hard fans here, and because of the orgaziner and the medias's promotion, all the people know there is a "Lady Gaga On Ice".they cheered weirdly when Bad Romance began, and shout at every moment of the number. But they just want to see a over the top performance, weird costumes, and twist the ass...not skating, they can cheer for anyone did those. Many people even think it's Poker Face again!(we all know it's Bad Romance.)It's kind of sad...the ladygaga things bring flame to Johnny, but also take away something...

anyway,we have different feelings about the pro,but Johnny already said at the press conference,he won't skate to Lady Gaga anymore.Hope he can do it.

for the other pro,die-hard fans may love it to death, because it "MIX" most of his representative work. They will cry or feel on heaven when see them together at the same time.BUT,for the other audience, other figure skating fans,it's too casual IMO.the first part people don't know what he want to express, especially when it's not a English speaking country.and the 2nd part,is too slow, and lack of choreograph.

besides that,Johnny become so slow in person,I don't know why.maybe he's just tired, maybe he's lack of training,or maybe...figure skating is not his first choice anymore...

LuCN, I agree with most of what you said, believe it or not. I watched the fan videos and thought that was probably the worst Bad Romance I've ever seen from him. It WAS slow, and it was a lot of posing. (Though I do think the new costume--as over the top as it is in still photos-- works on the ice, and that is a reflection of Johnny's design talent.) As far as Lady Gaga goes, I feel that Johnny believes he created a monster. Everywhere he performs, people ask him to do Gaga, and he's sick of it, as he said. You can tell he got sick of Poker Face and is now sick of Bad Romance because he designed new costumes for both. The feeling I get is that he wanted to do something to freshen it up for himself. But I don't think his heart is in the Gaga pieces anymore. Plus, I do think he's exhausted. Japan-New York-China within a short time is just unbelievable. Not only would he have jetlag, but he wouldn't have much time to stay in shape, either.

As for the Edith Piaf program, I think he's excited about it. He tweeted about it several times. I like the fact that he gets so involved in the creation of his programs, from the costumes, to using his favorite music, to the choreography. That said, I don't think he's been putting enough time into the choreography, and I think this program has a lot of potential. A lot of other skaters would hire people to do costumes, choreography, and even choose the music. I like the fact that Johnny's programs are a real expression of Johnny's heart. It seems like the music he chooses reflects what's going on in his life at that moment. I think that reflects his love of skating. But he needs to devote more time to developing/maintaining his programs. I will say that Heartbroken was phenomenally beautiful, and maybe he didn't get the credit he deserved for that. Again, I think he's tired. Even his recent performances of Ave Maria (a beautiful program) have been a bit off, as if he forgot some of the choreography.

It has to be said that he's probably burning the candle at both ends more than any other skater. And I don't begrudge him working on other projects. There has to be life after skating, and I think that if he didn't pursue other projects, he'd be selling his other talents short. On the ice, I still think he's excellent and inspiring. But I wish there was more time in a day for him to work on his skating.

But Piaf´s music is not graceful or fluid, it has a huuuuge amount of heart and passion. And that lacked totally in Weir´s performance. I think the choreography would have fitted better e.g. Grieg´s piano concerto that Kulik skated to years ago.

I just can't believe my eyes! One year off seems a great thing happened to them. This is the most beautiful program I ever see from them! They had very cool short programs before, but this one is so expressive and mature. I have hope now.
Wow, I've never thought I'd see Z&Z's skating looking so lovely. Wonders never cease!

She's still a bit blank in expression though. She needs to engage him more.

Having seen that, I'm actually kinda looking forward to seeing them back in competition.

I don't think Johnny Weir's skating (or the lack of it) as of recent is worth this much disucssion

Oh Gloudy-Gumdrops, thank you so much for feeling the same way I felt like a terrible loner. I keep coming back to see if their vedio is up. I never looked forward to seeing them like this before. It is the first time that I replayed their program several times

about the tickets selling,as I've said before, this kind of shows here never depand on the gate receipts, but on the sponsers. This time, they seem to have more sponsers, good for them.Although the stadium was over 70% full, most them take complimentary tickets or bought the scalped tickets in a very low price(around 10%-20% of the original one).only die-hard fans bought high price tickets from the organizer.I didn't bought the best seats, but sit on the front row through the two shows.

Opening,WOW~It's powerful, passionate and very entertainment!music like KOI by Marton, and the theme is "the Matrix".(pity Joubert didn't come LOL)the costume, sunglasses are so COOL!wonderful opening for a show~SZ did a great job!PS:Yagudin and Patrick showed step sequence together then Jeff and Johnny come from the other side, wonder who johnny will come with in Shanghai and Taipei.(jeff had gone to the The Ice shows in Japan)

2nd half opening,it's a story in the club LOL funny and enjoyable~love it!wonder what will SJP do in Shanghai and Taipei show~

in final, everybody just showed one element, and no encore><

some backstage things: (all the organizers love Johnny so most him)
they didn't drink REAL wine in the Sex and City group number,it's just water or coke like drinks...but Yagudin and someone bought beers and chinese wine by themselves,he handed a bottle of beer when leave the stadium. LOL
Johnny said he's not familiar with other cast members at all.and joked Yagudin's fat and look down Chan.really hope Sasha Cohen can come to the Shanghai and Taipei shows, then he can have a friend.
Johnny receive the stick from Rochette's 1st number: (1st day he's nearly topless ~)

Patrick Chan and Hao Zhang tried pair spins many times, but always failed LOL :

They've left for Shanghai.let's wait for more photos and reports

She looks beautiful!! I really love Zijun and I hope she does well this season on the JGP. With Adelina, Liza T and the rest of the Russian babies at the forefront last year, there wasn't a lot of attention on her. But she has good basics, a lovely lyrical style and all the makings to be the star of women's figure skating in China. I can't wait to see her this year!

Anybody have any more photos or videos of Zijun?

there is a interview of Johnny, which I think many people will intersted in,I'll open a new thread for that~
"Lady Gaga on Ice declaim against ISU:they make figure skating losing its beauty"
    http://sports.sina.com.cn/o/2011-07-...95669208.shtml

and Patrick on his new EX moondance with a mop:

(rough translate)"the story is,I stand on an old boat, dancing with my girlfriend while clean the floor.then my brain is stuffed with the girls imagine, like I've experienced before~"
It's a little comfusione ,maybe he meant he's moping, and imagine dancing with his girlfriend like before. (hope we can see the original English answer...)
