    The Voice

This is going to be so much better than AI! No stupid auditions.

Frenchie Davis was just on and got picked by Xtina to mentor. No age limits and there can be duos or groups. Sort of like Xfactor.

Woot. This is my Tuesday fun.

I really wasn't expecting to like The Voice at all. I turned over right when the couple was singing Falling Slowly and I was instantly hooked. I really like the format of the show. I'm also digging the song choices we've seen so far. It seems like they have way more songs available than American Idol.

What's the premise. What's the significance of the judges pressing their buttons and turning around?

They were great. I like it if more than one mentor is interested, the singer gets to choose who they think has the most to offer them.

If the mentor likes the voice, they hit their button and turn around. Each mentor picks 8. Then those 8 compete against each other and it's narrowed to 4. Then it goes live for the audience to pick the winner from the final 16.

Each contestant has already auditioned before the producers. They get a call back if they decide to let them go before the mentors. They aren't doing any bad, stupid auditions like AI (which I despise). They're going for talent and not humor. And NO stupid RYAN or RANDY.

So once a mentor gets 8, are they stopped from turning around and picking more? Will each judge definitely get 8?

I'm enjoying it so far. I haven't watched any Idol this season. I barely watched any Idol last season. It just hasn't interested me. But The Voice has held my attention this evening. I was quite surprised to see Frenchie Davis! It maybe wasn't the best song choice for her as I thought she sounded a little pitchy, but I'm glad Christina decided to coach her.

I've been watching Idol, but this has made me not care about watching it.

Yes. This week and next week are the initial picks. Then I guess they'll split the time among each mentor's groups as they work toward eliminating half of them.

This is apparently modeled after a Dutch program.

    Screw AI.

I started watching this show after Glee ended (hate that Glee picked the ONE night I had something I wanted to watch at 9 PM to do an expanded show, LOL) and I've really enjoyed it. I remember seeing Frenchie on AI too and am happy to see her get picked by someone. I really enjoy this concept and I think they may be onto something here.

Wait, is this on for two hours??! WHY is everything overlapping tonight?!? I watch Body of Proof at 10 PM. I hope NBC puts this show online so I can catch up!

Too bad Scotty McCreey didn't do this show instead of AI. Blake Shelton could have told him not to make stupid faces and to hold the mic right.

Part of the mentoring is stage presence as well as vocal training.

That was interesting. Country guy goes with Adam rather than Blake.

So if nobody picks them, are they just eliminated?

That's my understanding - didn't one of the first contestants not get chosen and was given encouragement to continue?
