What a wonderful woman she's grown into being. Skating opened the door, but she walked through it and has used the opportunity offered to her so well.

    Indeed!
I expect that this will be the case for many years to come.

Thanks for posting these news updates and links kwanette and Sylvia. The Kween is so kwantastic. A great role model ... her legendary programs continue to inspire, and her off-ice achievements and pushing forward to be the best she can be truly shows her drive and character, not unlike the way she approached her young life on the ice.

Yeah, she's probably still pissed she was so sick at 1999 Worlds!

Michelle, what can I say?! You are a skating superstar and a superstar in life.

    Congratulations!

I want to be positive and supportive. And maybe I don't have the right frame of mind. But I'm a little worried that none of Michelle's recent endevours involve an actual paycheck.

Is she asking you to support her? Pay for her university bills? Are you really Danny Kwan?

I think that it is entirely possible that many of these opportunities she has had are very much helped by the fact that she might have a little bit of a nest egg from her skating career, and doesn't have to worry so much like many of the rest of us about a periodic paycheck in order to be involved in those efforts.

Just think of these activities as very impressive extracurricular activities for a full time graduate student.

He's worried about getting that $20 back he loaned her for gas money last year.

I'm sure that Michelle/her advisors have taken care of her earnings over the years.

The assignments/opportunities that she has undertaken while completing her education will only add to her readiness/qualifications for whatever she does in the future.
Some will "snipe" at her accomplishments, no matter what they are...sigh!

Umm, didn't she tour for 10 years on COI, most of it with top billing, while most were in Jr high, high school, and college, meaning she can probably afford to take a few years off from earning a pay check to go to SCHOOL. Furthermore, I don't know if her involvement with the State Department is unpaid and/or she is not receiving some form of educational stipends or grants as part of her service.
