Good to see the Kerrs' retirement acknowledged by the BBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/wint...s/12987800.stm
I wonder who'd be left if we only considered ice dancers with no Russian links.
Crone/Poirier? Carron/Jones?
Actually Yuri Razgulaev, although Latvian, is probably Russian in ethnicity... so do C/P still count?
And didn't Cappellini/Lanotte just move to Morozov? So I guess that means we're left with Carron/Jones.![]()
But they didn't RESIDE in Moscow, did they? I never thought of the Kerrs being 'mixed up' in the whole 'Moscow ice-dance politiks thing.'
I'm referring to the folks who are affiliated with Russians still in Russia...not every other ice dancer under the sun, who trains with expatriate Russians.
Ashley Wagner - America's Champion and PRIDE. How sweet it is!
So you're saying that residing in Russia taints someone? How long do you have to live in Moscow before you're forever tarnished?![]()
Not 'tarnished'...just 'close to TAT-Land politiks.' (wink)

Sad about the Kerrs retiring.![]()
Sinead & John, sure we can't convince you to come back for one more season, skate to Oasis (I'm thinking "Champagne Supernova"), and win Euros at home?![]()
Their SD this season was fantastic (most of their ODs were excellent - FDs were hit and miss).
I kept hoping they'd compete in Sheffield but I guess they always primarily felt Scottish and obviously with Sinead's serious, recurring injury, it wasn't really viable.
And I didn't realise Blanc/Bucket retired too. Sad times.![]()
I do agree the recognition is nice but couldn't they have found a better pic of Sinead? I honestly kept hoping they would announce they changed their mind and will try to compete in Sheffield after all, but with all the injuries they've had lately, I could easily see why they'd want to stop. I for one will really miss them. Like some else said, this feels like the end of an era in ice dance with them and Faiella and Scalli retiring earlier. At least P/B are still around.
Thanks for all the memories and the performances, John and Sinead!
Adding my: to the choir of woe.
