Unfortunately Johnny's plane got stuck and he couldn't make it for the show but he did come straight from the airport to the rink to the meet and greet.

I got to meet Johnny again and talked to him briefly as there were tons of people on line to see him. I think it is great that after being stuck all day in an airport and then an airplane, Johnny came to meet his fans. Johnny did take the ice at the end of the show to apologize for not being able to skate and to thank everyone for supporting Skate to Learn programs.

Lynn Kriengkrairut & Logan Giulietti-Schmitt are also performing in the Cleveland Skating Club's shows this weekend (tonight and tomorrow night at 7:30 pm). They've been tweeting about the show: http://twitter.com/lynn_logan_usa

Since Jeremy was breaking in 2-day-new boots (as of Friday), he did some gorgeous triples and some planned doubles, but commented that the hard part was bending enough to do low positions, footwork, and spins. By Sunday, his combo spin looked good as usual. The hat was cooperative, staying on his head when flipped there and remaining on his tummy during the layover camel spin. That program sure bears up to repeat views. I just love it.

Home Town Glory is going to be another signature piece. Hope the Korea show is streamed so everyone can see it there. It's got a lot of variety in movement, long glides punctuated by quick stops and syncopated footwork. I was entertained by some grandparents who obviously were not skating fans suddenly noticing aloud how smooth Jeremy is, and thinking that they really had no idea who they were watching--yes, he was announced as "2 time US Champion", but IMO, he's also one of the most innovative and artistic skaters EVER, who continues to demonstrate his range. To me, it's like getting to watch a modern and mellower John Curry.

One of the parents commented that JA's low-key manner put all the kid skaters at ease. It was a great show with very high level skating. Home town boy Alex Aiken (Jr bronze medalist) was back to show off his huge jumps and blazing-fast footwork. I was very impressed by Tim Dolensky's (2010 Novice bronze medalist) gorgeous spins (and footwork and jumps). The show included tots to adults (including adult dance competitors Michael Marcanio and Nancy Hoblack from NC, who train weekends at the Cooler).

Did anyone attend the Cleveland Skating Club's show this weekend?

Anyone attend this show last weekend who can share their impressions? I heard that Adam Rippon, Christina Gao and Andrea Poapst (used to represent the club in singles before she relocated to Colorado to start pairs) & Chris Kneirim all skated. Rippon skated his "Cinema Paradiso" number (reportedly landing 3A and other triples just fine on a small ice surface), Gao performed to "Don't Cry for me Argentina," and Poapst/Knierim showcased an impressive triple twist.

EDMONTON- The figure skaters in the Ice Memories Show say it couldn’t be more aptly named.
Some of the Royal Glenora Skating Club’s most famous alumni have returned to their old stomping grounds this long weekend for five shows. In between performances, they’ll reminisce, reconnect and catch up.
Kurt Browning, David Pelletier and Jamie Sale, Cody Hay and Annabelle Langlois, Susan Humphreys and Michael Slipchuk were on the ice that they all found national and Olympic fame on.

I was going to start a separate thread for the Detroit SC shows. They are taking place Thursday, June 9 through Sunday, June 12 (5 shows in all). There is a post-show reception after the Thursday evening show ($45 extra?) to benefit Japan.

From the Detroit Free Press article on Davis/White throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at the Tigers game on Tuesday:
Included on their schedule is skating in two performances for Detroit Skating Club's ice show to benefit the Red Cross and Japan's tsunami relief efforts on June 9-12.
I believe Meryl and Charlie will be performing in the Thursday and Friday evening shows, June 9 & 10, at the Detroit Skating Club in Bloomfield Hills -- this may need to be confirmed.

Tickets went on sale on Monday, May 23 in the DSC main office and will remain on sale during regular business hours until June 8. Prices are $15 for bleacher seating and $25 for gold seats. Charity tables are $50 - $300. Tickets will be available for purchase during regular business hours or by phone at 248- 332-3000 x101. Show days, tickets are on sale at the door for any remaining seats that are still available.

ETA link to Detroit SC's press release about their show: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/artic...e_pressrelease

US Athletic Foundation's cast list of performing skaters for their inaugural "An Evening on Ice" benefit show at 7:30 pm on Friday, August 12 in Burbank, Calif. (tickets will go on sale June 10) can be viewed at:
    http://www.usathleticfoundation.org/events.html

The annual ice show held at the Ice Den in Scottsdale, Arizona, will be Friday, June 10 & Saturday, June 11 -- show times: http://blog.coyotesice.com/2011/annu...-show-ice-den/
Headliners are Tiffany Vise/Don Baldwin and Douglas Razzano.

Detroit Skating Club's first of 5 shows kicks off Thursday evening, June 9 to benefit the Japan Red Cross Tsunami Relief (maybe we should have a new thread for fan reports, photos, etc. in GSD?).
