How is it he can STILL be getting awards for Vancouver, considering it's more than a year later, he hasn't set competitive blade on the ice since, and he doesn't appear to be making any kind of effort to come back? Come on guys, I KNOW he beat "the evil commie Russian" and that makes him some kind of hero, but a year later!? Honestly?
I don't see why this is so hard to understand. Evan is the Sullivan Award winner for 2010. He may have won his OGM a year ago, but it still happened during 2010.

Exactly. Reminds me of when people complained about Kwan winning the Sullivan Award because she didn't win the OGM in 2002, "only" bronze... but it's because she won the award for her 2001 accomplishments (fourth World title).

Then Sarah Hughes took home the Sullivan Award in 2003 but with respect to her 2002 accomplishments (OGM). Certainly not for her 2003 accomplishments

    Some happy news at last!

    Congrats Evan! Well deserved!

It seems similar to the Oscars in that the awards are for accomplishments the previous year.

It´s never too late to reward a Cold War hero!

Back to the topic! I think it´s great that a figure skater won this award, especially in a country like USA which has a lot of top athlets. Congratulations to Evan!

So happy for Evan! He's definitely in great company with the other skaters who've won that award.
Congratulations Evan Lysacek -- 2010 Olympic Champion!

Congratulations to Evan! Obviously, his sportsmanship and community service weighed heavy in this decision, as his athletic accomplishments for 2010 as a whole equal 50% of winning. Although, hey, I guess he won the one that matters!

    You're missing the point, guys.

He won the OGM in FEBRUARY 2010. He has done absolutely NOTHING competitive since. Are you HONESTLY saying that NO other amatuer athlete in the whole United States won anything else last year?

I'd feel pretty miffed if I was another amatuer athlete. The guy wins one thing, whoop-de-doo. He didn't even win it by a convincing amount. I'm sure there are plenty of other athletes who've had multiple wins who deserved this more.

    No, YOU'RE missing the point.

The award is for achievements in the year 2010. Evan won a freaking Olympic gold medal in 2010. I wouldn't call that a "one-thing-whoop-de-doo" kind of win.
