First photos of the new season!!!

    http://photography.ice-dance.com/201...r/SDPract/Gp1/

Thoughts on the costumes? They look to elaborate to be practice outfits, so I'm assuming that they're their new SD ones. I think they're charming . *waits for everyone to complain about Mitchell wearing the same colour necktie as Scott Moir*

Thank you, skatingfan04! I am not sure about the bodice of her dress, but I love the skirt. not what I would have envisioned for a polka, and I like that about it. I'm kinda digging his costume. but these two would look good in anything. thanks again. sooo excited for their new programs.

You KNOW I love these two but I have to ask...Why is she dressed like Grace Kelly in Rear Window...

    http://www.google.ca/imgres?um=1&hl=...G_LbBrwKRiM&im

While he's dressed sort of like Gene Kelly in American in Paris...

    http://www.google.ca/imgres?num=10&h...VLUM&imgurl=ht

..and what does this have to do with polka ?..

Do we still not know what their music is ?

Are these , in fact , their polka costumes ?

It's been mentioned on the Lake Placid thread in the K&C forum that one team has a "French waltz" in lieu of traditional polka (very few teams are doing actual polkas, it seems) -- might be them.

Presumably the French waltz will be done with a French polka. At least I hope so!

A 2/4 rhythm with the correct number of beats per second is required for the section when the YP is being done, and this year, I suspect the penalties for not having are likely to be applied.

Of course, P&I had one of the most egregious wangoes in the 2010/2011 season, so perhaps they feel they will get away with that strategy again.

Theirs was one of my favourite wangoes , as wangoes goes I thought the waltz part was waltzy...but if these are their costumes, and they do have a French waltz..I'm still not getting it...

Hope it all fits perfectly once we see /hear it. ( If not , this would be the best time to find out. Lots of time for fixin' )

I also loved their 'egregious wangoes', and I don't even have to put in the qualifier 'as wangoes go'. I thought it was a brilliant solution to putting together two musical styles which really don't belong together. I much preferred it to the many other short dances of that season which abruptly juxtaposed two completely different styles and tempos.

I agree , geoskate ,, I liked their wango and V/M's ( of course ) the best.. I wasn't qualifying their wango , but the many others that didn't work for me that year. ( and teasing doris just a bit , since I know she's definitely not a wango fan.)

Okay, so last night I was bored & watched a few DVD's of the past Grand Prix season. I watched the FD from Skate America & found this couple. WOW !
I took to them as soon as they started skating. Totally undermarked.
I only have their FD from SA & their SD from the NHK but really enjoyed watching them.
Why did they not go to the World Championships ?.

Canada has a very deep ice dance field. This year there will be some real battles for third, fourth and fifth!

Oh, geez. Apparently they had a fall during their lift in the FD at Lake Placid, but at least this time they're okay! Here's hoping they're getting the kinks out now and will have better luck the rest of the season....

Took an EPIC combo lift fall tonight. Glad Al and I are alive. Back to the grind stone.

They had a fall again! Ohhhhh man, will these two ever catch a break and skate clean and uninjured? I feel bad for them.
    Crazy about sports!

Pretty. She should always wear purple.

Shame about the fall, but at least they're OK. Hope they can rebound with a solid skate at Thornhill.

In other news, reports from LPIDC say that they were a little shaky in the SD, but no major errors. Explains the scores, I think.

Also, the reports seem to suggest that their SD music is "La Vie en Rose" by Edith Piaf. If it's true, I'm torn. I love the music so much, but I can't stand Piaf's voice. Thoughts??

Gorgeous dress- but ouch at the big purple bruise that goes with it on her left knee.

wow, you're good! thanks for identifying the underlying references of those costumes, Pratfall. I am really curious to see this polka.

Thanks for the update, skatingfan04! I love Edith Piaf, and think these two can really do her music justice. I really hope some video surfaces.

My sister pointed out the GK dress to me.. (Rear window is one of her all time favourite movies. I think she watches it at least once a year. )
Now I feel a bit strange for bringing it up..Maybe the costumes just reflect that they're iconic looks "of the era" ?

The thought occurred to me out of nowhere last night, if they're going all Edith Piaf for the SD, maybe "Milord" would work for the polka ?
