That's because Ando and Cizney only competed in senior 'A' competition like Grand Prix Series and 4CC. Korrpi and Kostner also compete in regional 'B' ranked events with skating their ass on the ice literally and still win and get points for it. I know, its ISU wierd rules.

ISU rankings are a joke. They have Valentina MarcHel ahead of Kanako Murakami in the rankings.

That IS a joke! Murakami is 3rd at GPF and last year's JW champ. Has Marchei ever won a medal at a Senior A?

No one take ISU ranking seriously. But it does benefit many European skaters with prize money thou. Maybe the system is designed that way.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
    A tale of a championship
That was planned for years and years
    Without any slip.

Mao Asada was the defending champ,
Kanako was glad to be sent.
Four dozen ladies trained all year
    For a world-class event, a world-class event.

    The earth started shaking hard,
    The waves came crashing down,
If not for the courage of the ISU,
No ice rink could be found, no ice rink could be found.

The field set down far from the shore of that battered Asian isle
    With Yuna Kim
    The Lipper too,
    Ando, Kostner, and Phaneuf,
    The movie star,
    The professor and Mary Ann,
    Here at Megasport Rink.

So this is the tale of the skating stars,
They've waited for a long, long time,
They'll have to make the best of things,
    It's an uphill climb.

Yuna Kim and the Lipper too,
    Will do their very best,
To get their training back on track,
And make the others finish third.

With phone, with lights, with Twitter feed,
    With every luxury,
    Eating blini and caviar,
    As sophisticated as can be.

So join us here next month my friends,
You're sure to get a smile,
From those plucky lady skating stars,
    Here at Megasport Rink.

I hope one of the newbies wins, but I think it will be a Yuna/Mao/Miki event.

What newbies are there other than Murakami. The senior Worlds debut of most of the newbies is still to come.

I would agree with this. As much as I like Kwak, Lee, and Tuurkilla, they have no shot at a medal, at least not this season, and they are the only other "newbies" I can think of who will be attending.

Yeah the only newbie with any shot is Murakami. The newbies who should make their debuts in the next 1-2 years of course who might be contenders include multiple women from Russia, U.S, and possibly more to come from Japan.

As far as newbies go, I hope Maé Bérénice Méité and Kanako Murakami skate very well. I really like them both!

Yuna just announce that she will compete at worlds.

That just made the whole thing more interesting to me.

Mae has no chance at a medal. She's a newbie, and she is talented, but as of now I'd group her with Kwak, Turkkilla, and Lee - not with Kanako. Kanako is the only newbie this season with a chance to medal. Although I will say I like what I've seen of Juulia Turkkilla, she seems poised to fill the steps of Kiira and Laura once they move on and has the characteristic great basics, strong jumps, and elegance of the best pretty finns.
