I'm afraid I'd have to be hitting the mute button a lot if anyone used LND.

It's been speculated that the King's Speech soundtrack will be used in dozens of pretty-princess programs, but I actually think I'd like to see what Ricky could do with it. With the right expression and choreography, it could make a really nice program, and I think he could pull it off. And he wouldn't necessarily have to play a character again, like he did this year. The Sherlock Holmes music lent itself to that, but TKS music could go in a different direction.

I've recently discovered the work of the French film composer Georges Delerue and am in love with it. Has any skater ever skated to his music? Any lovely, light, airy ladies skater (such as Mao and Alissa) will do. Here are two gorgeous samples:

    Our Mother's House

ETA: I see Nmsis has already suggested Georges Delerue. Great taste, Nmsis!

For Yu-na, if she doesn't keep her Arirang LP... I'd love to see her skate to Rachmaninoff's "Island of the Dead":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N10YZ2Sk3Kg (part 2's in the sidebar). And for Mao, I think this excerpt of Rimsky's Le Coq D'Or would be gorgeous: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3jEJJXFKX4 :3

Oh and a bit OT... but Rachmaninoff's big hands: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifKKlhYF53w XD

2 questions. Who (if anyone) has skated to this piece by Saint Saens?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsD0FDLOKGA

Have we discussed it this season? It sounds so familiar and I've listened to it before. (Aside from the hulu commercials of course)

There's a piece of music from Beauty and the Beast that sounds just like it! I think we have discussed this before, at least in the D/W thread.

I like the mood of the piece, but I'm guessing it doesn't fit the "must have a dance beat" criteria.

Khoklova and Novitski used it for the middle section of their Firebird FD last season. They added an underlying beat to make it more legal.

It's the same piece. The first place I ever heard it was during an episode of the Simpsons.

The score to Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, especially for someone that can pull off the drama and emotion throughout. It's an absolutely amazing score that is utterly overlooked.

The Planets. I am honestly surprised they aren't used more often, especially Mars and Jupiter!

I'd love to see a skater tackle the Suite from Pleasantville. Don't know who could do it justice or if the nature/tone of the music would survive cutting.

I'd like to see a dance team use "Red Cape Tango" from Michael Daugherty's "Metropolis Symphony".

So my Latin sucks but whoever uses Requiem for a Dream/Lux Aeterna had better feature glow in the dark mushrooms on their costume in homage to the new species Mycena luxaeterna, the Eternal Light Mushroom: http://species.asu.edu/2011_species02

Yes please! Otherwise it would just be overkill. How many men have skated to RFAD in the past 5 years? I'm afraid to count....

More ideas for ice dance, which could use a whole lot more edgy programs to modern music:

Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus. REACH OUT AND TOUCH FAITH!

Would be an interesting selection to see Madison Hubbell skate to.

Also might be interesting to see a program to music from the latest Kings of Leon album.

Plushenko´s original sp 2005-2006 was Once Upon a time in Mexico, choreographed by Morozov, he skated it once in September in one Russian Cup series. Never heard of Nutracker.

I m still waiting ANY skater to skate to Princess Mononoke soundtrack, I m thinking next time to make a banner with it..

Yes! I really want Mao or Mirai to skate to it! The soundtrack from Atsuhime is wonderful as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWTS2...eature=related

Mars was used quite a lot under the guise of Gladiator, since the main theme of the soundtrack was almost an exact copy. I LURVE Jupiter, and loved Suguri's program to it.

I can't remember what the soundtrack to Princess Mononoke sounds like anymore, but I remember loving it the first time I saw the movie.

I would love to see more anime and video game music (like Final Fantasy) used in figure skating. There is some really lovely, flowy music in there. One of my friends was obsessed with "Suteki Da Ne" from one of the Final Fantasies years ago and it is a beautiful, haunting tune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uYQ6PpPEmg

Yes, yes, I'd love to see skaters branch out to Joe Hisaishi and Nobuo Uematsu's works (both geniuses in my books). Suteki da ne (and the scene it's set to ) is one of my all time favs... so hauntingly beautiful indeed. Kitaro's another musician I'd love to see used more often
