I'd love to see someone - anyone - have a crack at skating to anything by the Decemberists, possibly a medley from The Hazards Of Love. Perhaps for Meryl and Charlie, a character-driven program that includes the Queen of the Forest's "theme" (about 1:40 into this track and more prominently in this one). I've seen more skaters over the years use Apocalyptica, and I'd like someone to try their version of Hall of the Mountain King. Very fast, very frantic, with a thrash metal spin on the classic. Not sure who'd be best suited to it, though.

And Brian Joubert should skate to the Hanna soundtrack.

After watching the movie 'Tree of Life', which has beautiful classical music in the background, I thought that Mao Asada could skate to some of that.

Ive been waiting for some one (team) to do this song for YEARS now. I think it would be beautiful if done by the right team.

I just think the melody and the lyrics are just amazing.

I totally agree! Almost anything by Sigur Ros or Jonsi would be very interesting to see. I'd love an ambitious ice dance team to attempt a program to Hjartath Hamast . And I think Mirai, or any young energetic skater, could do a great exhibition to Sticks and Stones.

I think Springsteen's "Jungleland" would make an epic Free Dance. For those of you not familiar with the song (!) it's a variation on a West Side Story theme.

I've been thinking this for weeks, but the sad news about Clarence Clemon's stroke (love & prayers for a recovery!!) made me want to post this vid. After you click the link, just hit pause, and let it load. Jungleland starts at 4:00

Another great Springsteen song for skating is "New York City Serenade."

"Seasons of Love" popped up earlier today when I was shuffling through my iPhone, and I realized it's been 15 years since "Rent" debuted on Broadway.

Has any top ice dance team done a free dance to "Rent?" It's about time we saw more dances - and skating programs in general - to contemporary music, themes, and movements.

i'm shocked you endorse something about a bunch of freeloaders who don't pay their bills
I feel like I'm in a dream. But it can't be a dream because there are no boy dancers!

Seriously, it's very danceable, in a modern way... assuming you have top-notch talent who can put in the effort and can dance.

    Specifically, I'm thinking Virtue/Moir.

I'd love some male skater like probably Brian Joubert use the soundtrack of the 1952 version of Ivanhoe (only the trailer but it contains the main theme).

Not sure who (singles or pairs) could pull this music off, but Thomas Newman's[/I] soundtrack from The Green Mile is a treasure trove of amazing music. A couple of examples

The Green Mile - Ending Credits (several different themes throughout it).
The Green Mile - John Coffey On The Mile
The Green Mile - Main Theme
The Green Mile - Night Journey/Punishment/Now Long Gone

Incidentally, Thomas Newman has composed some amazing film scores over the years (some already used for skating, most, however, untapped), including:

    - American Beauty
    - The Shawshank Redemption
    - Unsung Heroes
    - The Road To Perdition
    - Little Women
    - In The Bedroom
    - Finding Nemo
    - Meet Joe Black
    - WALL-E
    - Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events
    - Fried Green Tomatoes
    - The Good German
    - Revolutionary Road
    - The Horse Whisperer
    - Erin Brockovich
    - Scent Of A Woman
    - Angels In America
    - White Oleander

Check out the music suite from Fried Green Tomatoes - it's crammed with great stuff with varying tempos, styles, and moods, and with the right skater, could be an epic program.

……And for us old farts who came of age in the 80s, Newman also scored The Lost Boys, Revenge of the Nerds, Reckless (watching Aidan Quinn and Daryl Hannah wreck the HS office, dancing around the place and getting nekkid in the school pool while rocking out to Kim Wilde's "Kids In America and Romeo Void's "Never Say Never" never gets old ), Real Genius (still to this day), Desperately Seeking Susan, Less Than Zero, The Great Outdoors, and countless other cheesy (and not-so-cheesy) movies of that decade.

OT, but how has this guy been nominated for the Best Original Score Academy Award *nine* times without winning even once? …And on a weirder note, why do I always hear Principal Ed Rooney's voice whenever I see/read the phrase "nine times" ??)

An ice dance team with a sense of humor (Pechalat and Bourzat?) should do an exhibition to this:

One of them should wear a snorkel, the other an inner tube.

I don't have the energy to wade through 11 pages of posts to see if it's been mentioned before (lol!) but I would really love to see someone skate to this.

    Homage to the Rabbits

It's music from Criss Angel's show in Vegas, which features dancers and performers from Cirque de Soleil. I heard this music for the first time when dancers from the show performed on So You Think You Can Dance a few years ago. The dance was choreographed by Wade Robson (amazing choreographer) and it was fantastic.

The music would be difficult to skate to, but a really brilliant choreographer could edit it and do something really special with this. It's a bit quirky and a little dark and mysterious...I think it'd make an awesome SP for someone...
