As twisted as this may sound, I would absolutely love to see a program done to the original music score by Anne Dudley from the movie American History X.

Because of the subject matter of this movie, one might think the soundtrack would be inappropriate, but the following tracks could make for an amazing FS, provided the skater could pull of the emotional intensity required.

We Are Not Enemies (Track 14)

    Two Brothers (Track 15)

    Storm Clouds Gathering (Track 16)

    …And my favorite:

    Benedictus (Track 17)

Hauntingly beautiful orchestral music that can bring tears to one's eyes.

After watching DWTS tonight, I'd have to suggest "Explosive" by Bond. It would make a great short program.

Has anybody skated to this before?

You're lucky, it's the only video I've found of them on YouTube:
Diana Rennik & Aleksei Saks (EST) 2006 OWG SP
(but I don't remember if they used this music only during the 2005-2006 season)

ITA, that there is so much more music to choose from, and that Tomas' style seems suited to jazz numbers -- of course he can skate to anything. Tomas' rockin' exhibition number to MJ at 2009 Worlds to me was co-opted by Morozov for Amodio. Of course they took the concept and made it work in a different way for Amodio, but most assuredly, it was Tomas' exuberant, cheeky cool spot-on exhibition number in 2009 that was inspirational.

I've mentioned before that I'd love to see Tomas skate to music from the Steve McQueen Bullitt soundtrack (it's jazz composed by Lalo Schifrin-- he's famous for the score to the 1960s tv series, Mission Impossible)

A couple of samples from the Bullitt score:

Also, music from The Thomas Crown Affair soundtrack, a movie that also starred Steve McQueen -- I think Tomas exhibits a similar macho cool.

Any of the "Dogora" pieces by Etienne Perruchon

    Two of my faves:

La Vidjiame (starts at 0:39) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X37_d9ldIxE

    Souchaenishka http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXLqr...el_video_title

The "lyrics" are in an imaginary language (kind of like Fumie's da-ma-sha-ba Karl Jenkins pieces from a few seasons ago) - so should be ok for all disciplines

BTW, Sarah and Drew's 4/13 "Inside Edge" blog includes this 2011-12 music scoop (Stephen Carriere):
Carriere said he has his long program already, and revealed, somewhat sheepishly, that he was inspired by the movie Black Swan and will be skating to Swan Lake. (He's not the only one, although we're not authorized to spill the beans on the lady we know will also be channeling Natalie Portman next season). Carriere's short will be to Louis Armstrong, and both programs are choreographed by Irina Romanova.

Carriere said he'll play both the prince and the evil Rothbart in his long program.
"Since nationals is in San Jose next year, it's a little bit of an homage to Rudi Galindo in 1996."
Any guesses on the (US?) lady skating to "Black Swan"?

My guess would be either Alissa (assuming that she's not retiring after Worlds) or Mirai Nagasu. Another possibility might be Christina Gao.

Maybe Christina. I remember PJ Kwong writing an article back in the summer describing Christina as a "steel butterfly", so black swan would fit in that image. My second guess would be Ashley Wagner, I think that piece would suit her very well. I doubt it's Alissa considering Worlds hasn't taken place yet.

On second thought, Alissa may be too gentle to skate the Black Swan portion. I forgot about Ashley. Good guess!

Ashley Wagner is the ONLY US female I could see skating to black swan music. Her use of the Spartacus ballet score inpressed me two years ago. Alissa is Odette, and anyone else is too sweet and young in presentation to be Odile. Ashley could do it. She has a boldness about her, an attack that is necessary.

Mirai could be Odile too. And like I said, Christina could maybe pull it off with her angular lines and powerful jumps. Alissa has already skated to "Swan Lake" and "The Swan" so I sort of think she wouldn't do yet another swan program.

Ice dance is a bit more challenging as I prefer when the musical choices fit (and follow) the theme and my favorite style is Blanc / Bouquet's.
I sooo wanted them on Madjo for next season. When I listened to her a few months ago, I was so sure it was for them and when I saw that Arribert had her gaze on Je Claque Des Doigts, I was *wheeee*. Now I'm mourning.

Another thing I'd have loooved them to skate is an "antifolk" program, begining with Telephone and Rubber Band by the Penguin Cafe Orchestra, followed by 1,2,3 Apple Tree by Herman Dune.
And I'd have killed to see them skate on something Biolay, like Nuits Blanches, Babx's Electrochoc Ladyland, Emily Loizeau's Ma Maison or Sébastien Tellier's La Ritournelle.

One thing I'd like to see danced is a Ghost in The Shell FD. The theme of Ghost in the Shell is quite similar to Blade Runner. Robot vs human, what makes one a person ...
(but ice dance being ice dance, I think that'll never happen).

    That's all folks.

Yes, Wagner is the only US lady currently I believe who could pull off the role of the black swan. Nagasu has the speed and attack, but still lacks the maturity I believe. Without a doubt, Czisny would make the best white swan. Kostner is the best candidate I think to play dual roles.
