The hair looked much better today. (See my mention in the SOI thread.) Either she got it permed or she went to town with the curling iron, because the poufy part is gone and it's all curly. From soccer mom to pixie -- a huge improvement.

uhh... when did Sasha begin her undergrad studies? Her quote make it sound like she's halfway through or something, which can't be the case...

Well, she said "finish," but she also said: "I'm interested in everything, from finance to philosophy, so I think I'd start with all of the core classes."

Most universities require students to take the core courses first, so I think what she said is really more along the lines of "I'd like to earn a degree."

And so she should, and probably will.

Why is it that figure skaters who get their hair cut short always get such unflattering styles? There are gorgeous, fashionable short cuts- but never - it seems in the land of figure skating.

The hair looks better there. Still not as good as long, but meh.

And it's great to see Scott with his skates on.

As for the whole college thing, Sasha should do what she wants (as long as she keeps touring ). No one should go to college just because other people want them to -- been there, done that, bought the expensive t-shirt. In the end, I didn't finish, and I'm totally fine with that. If Sasha wants a degree, great. If she wants to do it at her own pace so she can skate in shows and all that good stuff -- also great. If she decides she wants to quit touring to go to school full time, I'll be sad.

True: the dress isn't pretty either.
I've written that before: Cohen never hit a single bad dress when she competed (not even exhibition dresses).
But after she left competitions, that changed. Pity.

@ Sasha's hair. It totally ages her. I agree with whoever said the only skater who's pulled off the short do well is Maria Bute. She looked gorgeous with it.

Hear, hear. I loved college myself, but it's not for everybody, and I don't understand the ever-popular OMG YOU MUST GO TO COLLEGE OR YOUR WHOLE LIFE HAS BEEN FOR NOTHING!!! attitude at all.

^I agree too. There's this kind of stigma attached to not going to college (n some circles) It's frankly ridiculous, as though "education" is the right answer for everyone. It isn't. We're all built differently; some of us just aren't right for it, and that has nothing to do with intelligence or the desire to learn. Frankly, I've educated myself a heck of alot more since graduating from university than the three years I was there.

French braids are gorgeous on her. (I'm envious because I can't wear them at all, and I always wanted to. ) I think she wore one for the Rachmaninoff program a couple of times, and it was a beautiful look.

Sasha is very pretty. The hair is just alright. I do think Sasha's hair could look much better in this short style if she got highlights to reflect a little movement. I think that would take care of the "chocolate muffin" look.
