^^ Nicole always had tremendous talent, but lacked discipline and work ethic. I felt way back when that it was Nicole who had the goods to rival Michelle Kwan much more than Tara and Sasha. Michelle was inspired by Nicole's amazing leg lift in the spiral to get her leg up higher too, which of course led to MK owning that iconic inside/ outside spiral.

Here's some sparkling performances Nicole gave in her early years as a professional (and some exhibitions while still eligible):

It is so nice to see her skating. Again a lovely program and really musical. I love how statuesque she is.

She is the reason I was pulled into this sport so deeply and she has never let go of my heart. Bobek, the beautiful, has still got "IT!" <3

She was the one I was rooting for in '98. I called her "My Nicole." I'm so glad she has her life back together. She looks wonderful and that program is beautiful and brought tears to my eyes.

Oh, wow! What a beautiful program! It's truly put a smile on my face. I've been reading through this thread and noticed that some of the posts date back to April of 2011, around the time I was in a coma and wasn't aware of how much she's progressed. I am so happy for Nicole. It's really an inspiration to see her doing so well. I wish Nicole nothing but the best.

How much everything has changed since then!

My pleasure to provide the vids of these performances, many of which I'd missed at the time. It's wonderful to see Nicole finding herself again, looking good, happy and working hard on achieving her goals in skating. When I met Nicole years ago at a skating event, I shook her hand and exclaimed, "You're the best!" She smiled her quirky smile and kinda shrugged. She seems now to know and to believe more fully in herself and just how good she is and can always aspire to be. Nicole, you go lady!

Doesn't seem as though she has lost any of the beautiful extension she had earlier in her career and if anything the hoop allowed her to ease into some positions that may be hard to balance on the ice(the leg shouldering)..

Nicole would be a perfect if Cirque du Solei ever did an ice show.
