The video is blocked in my country but do I have to guess... "Express yourself"?
Not impressed by this Gaga song, at all... too much noise, it puts me off trying to listen to the lyrics!

That was my thought within 5 seconds into "Born This Way." It's practically the same chord progression.

It *totally* sounds like Express Yourself. Come one, Ms. GaGa, I expect better from you - you're light years more talented than Ms. Ciccone.

Just a correction, the SINGLE premiered today. The video doesn't have an official release date yet but I suspect it will be in 2-3 weeks. They usually save videos to keep the sales up when initial purchases begin to wane.

I like the song but it is very similar to Express Yourself (which people forget sampled parts of the Staple Sisters "Respect Yourself") but I think that was all intentional. It is a throwback disco anthem. I think this is just a single to garner attention and her REAL smash will be the 2nd single they will release before the album in May. It is apparently titled Judas and is about backstabbing men. Any fans of Kelly Clarkson think that sounds familiar?

    Lazy Gaga

Even as she’s lifting ideas from world-famous Madonna records, Lady Gaga is telling you to express your individuality. Stefani Germanotta, why not express some of your own?

When Lady Gaga first emerged from the downtown New York electroclash scene, she was frequently, and unfairly, accused of being a Madonna wannabe. Since she’s become a star, she’s adopted more and more of Madonna’s persona — the critique that made no sense in 2007 feels valid now.

Lady Gaga wouldn’t be the first superstar to have her individuality burned away by the spotlight. But considering her evident desire to speak for outcasts and freaks, she’d better start getting her story straight. Right now, she speaks for copycats. Physician, heal thyself.
I don't know, maybe for these kids who were barely even alive in the 80s this stuff looks and sounds original but for us geezers....

All I could think when I heard it was a) This is straight-up Madonna and b) Britney's new song was waaaaay better.

I have this album (Spring Session M) on vinyl - I need to find a way to convert that vast collection of music onto CD .

The song itself is okay. I don't love it as I did with Bad Romance or Telephone on the first run-through but:

    Orient made? Chola descent?

Highly inappropriate for a song about acceptance and no judgment on a person's gender, race and sexuality.

Thumbs down. The song sounds more like a filler and not one ready for a single release.

Total Express Yourself knock-off, right down to the gospel at the end. Heard the similarity the instant the chorus started the first time I listened. Just shows what a trail-blazer Madonna really is. Wasn't she talking about all this born-this-way stuff in 1986? I guess Lady Gaga is needed for a new generation (which means I'm getting old )

The video should be interesting. Lady Gaga is as much a visual pop star as she is a musical one. Hopefully it'll be more fun and not so preachy.

The Grammys performance is also being hyped more than a Weir SP.
