I could have sworn I read the word "box" somewhere in one of the posts.

About Zhang/Zhang's age, here's a piece of news in 2009 confirming that Hao Zhang was born in 1982:

    http://translate.google.com/translat...26prmd%3Divnso

Zhang Hao was born in 1982, larger than the full 5-year-old Zhang Dan, the two 16 cm height difference, Zhang Dan Zhang Hao is only half the weight.
The translation is bad, but I think it basically means that Hao Zhang is 5 years older than Dan Zhang, which happens to agree with the listed birthdays.

    Dan Zhang:
    ISU Birthdate: 04.10.1985 (25)
    Listed Birthdate: 04.10.1987 (23)

    Hao Zhang:
    ISU Birthdate: 06.07.1984 (26)
    Listed Birthdate: 06.02.1982 (29)

Another piece of news found, which (seems to) say that Dan Zhang was 10 years old in 1998.(correct me if I'm wrong)
    http://translate.google.com/translat...0%2F000861.htm
In 1998, 10-year-old Yao Bin Zhang Dan was the case, to Beijing. Participate in national team training, she became the youngest national team player.

Well, that really explains why Dan Zhang was still growing and growing until almost two years ago... maybe they should be careful when talking about growth spurt to media... lol....

Maybe FSU can organize an underground railroad network for Oleada so nobody knows where she's hiding
Time to bring Markova back to skate to "Let My Oleada Go" (but be sure to share some of the boxed wine with her to get her in the proper voidy spirit first).

As long as Markova hasn't finished all the vino first. She was off her head when she did that routine right, or was it just the choreographer? (Oleada come to Perth, I have a whole wine valley 10 minutes from me, and it's Summer here and we got some of the best beaches in the world).
I guess the hard thing for a lot of people to accept is why God would allow me to go running through their yards, yelling and spinning around.

That's true. One of my journalist friends once mentioned Hao Zhang in her article as "5 years older than Dan", and she immdiately got a call from he Zhang after the article's out, he was simply mad at her because 'every journalist knows this but none has ever mentioned it in public, so how could you do it!?' So you can say this is a confirmation directly from he Zhang

So, that is just that? Chinese officials said "sorry, our staff made (so many) errors in paperwork," then they shut the list on their website and it is the end of story?

It looks like we all with ISU and those international skaters who actually followed the rules, got f...ed up afterall.

Is there any scientific ways to establish the age of a person, like they do it with DNA parental test? The paperwork like passports or birth certificates don't look promising.

Maybe FSU can kidnap the skaters in question, cut off limbs and count the number of rings (like tree trunks)?

I can't believe that so many people are happy at the prospect of medals being taken away from past winners. How sweet.

This was posted in the 4CC Entries thread: Chinese Athlete Ages (document from the Chinese Olympic Committee website)

The following birth dates do not match up with what is posted on the athletes ISU Bios.

    Wenjing Sui:
    ISU Birthdate: 18.07.1995 (15)
    Listed Birthdate: 07.05.1997 (13)

    Cong Han
    ISU Birthdate: 06.08.1992 (18)
    Listed Birthdate: 3.1989 (21)

    Bingwa Geng
    ISU Birthdate: 03.01.1994 (17)
    Listed Birthdate: 03.03.1995 (15)

    Yu Gao
    ISU Birthdate: 10.07.1992 (18)
    Listed Birthdate: 10.07.1988 (22)

HisWeirness found this at a Chinese Skating forum (all links/info reposted with her permission):

Geng's Japanese Wikipedia article also lists her birth year as 1995.

She also found the following links at that same website:

    http://images.sport.org.cn/File/2007...1531155992.xls
    images.sport.org.cn/File/2009/09/22/1505096846.doc
    images.sport.org.cn/File/2007/07/30/1828025124.xls

Now, those links have even more info:

    Dan Zhang:
    ISU Birthdate: 04.10.1985 (25)
    Listed Birthdate: 04.10.1987 (23)

    Hao Zhang:
    ISU Birthdate: 06.07.1984 (26)
    Listed Birthdate: 06.02.1982 (29)

    Xiaoyu Yu
    ISU Birthdate: 02.01.1996 (14)
    Listed Birthdate: 02.01.1998 (12)

    Yang Jin
    ISU Birthdate: 16.05.1994 (16)
    Listed Birthdate: 16.05.1989 (21)

    Binshu Xu
    ISU Birthdate: 28.07.1988 (22)
    Listed Birthdate: 29.07.1990 (20)

So, if these birthdates are correct:
    - Sui was too young to compete as a junior last year and too young to be on the SGP this year
    - Han was not age eligible to compete in the JGP this year
    - Gao was not age eligible to compete in the JGP this year
    - Geng was too young for 2008 Junior Worlds
    - Dan Zhang was too young to compete in the JGP and Junior Worlds in 1999/2000 and too young to compete at the Olympics, Worlds and 4CC in 2002.
    - Binshu Xu was too young to compete as a junior in the 2002/2003 season
    - Xiaoyu Yu was too young for 2010 Junior Worlds (illegal entry) and is too young to compete internationally as a junior in the 2010/2011 season.

So yeah. Feel free to post any other info you might have or find. Or point out any mistakes I made.

Not suprising, but disappointing and I'm pissed.

ETA: Added info found by jlai on Yu/Jin

ETA: Added Sylvia's info on BinShu Xu
The simple fact that the ISU does not place large penaltys or sanctions on China for skating is proof that there is way too much politics in this sport.
