At the same time, the Grand Ice Palace, with a total seating capacity of 12,000, will stop existing as a sporting facility: it will either be converted into a hotel complex or disassembled and removed from Sochi. For now, the arena promises to become one of the more impressive constructions in the city: its façade lines will resemble the trajectory of a triple toe-loop jump.
The construction is being done on schedule: steel works have reached the 21-meter mark with a projected height of 32 meters. The remaining 4,500 tons of metal will be raised within six months. Only some finish works remain to be done in 2012, and in November, the palace will host its first competitions.

I'm struggling to imagine this, clearly because I am not a good visual thinker.

I guess there is more demand for summer resort space than an ice arena in Sochi if they are planning on converting it to a hotel after the Olympics are over.
