I tried to make the same argument

I think a variation of the Chelsea Clinton's Very Wang wedding dress would've look great on Kate.
I think I read that her arms and shoulders had to be covered.

Ivanka Trump's dress was magnificent. Kates was lovely, but Ivanka's was more interesting.

I thought Kate looked beautiful. The dress was conservative, but fit her perfectly and accented her body. It was a very Grace Kelly look, nothing wrong with emulating her.

Especially since they were both commoners marrying into a royal family.

I can't express how much I'm happy that she had the lace sleeves. For someone who is slender, that looked SO elegant. Bring back sleeves people! lol Granted I think heavier people surprisingly look better in strapless gowns, as long as they fit well.
I agree. And along with sleeves, I hope she returns some elegance and class to bridal fashions. I'm tired of the dresses that look like a wardrobe malfunction about to happen. Not to mention the hideous Pnina Tornai crap they sell on Say Yes to the Dress with see through corsets. (Pnina's probably weighing her options today between relying on enough tacky brides with money remaining or changing up her approach!)

I will disagree, however, about the heavier brides. Probably because I've yet to see one that is well fitted in her strapless ball gown and there are spare boobs popping out under the arms and lots of arm to see there and nothing good is happening.

True, but royalty in name. Both Grace and Kate were/are royal in their own elegance.

I'm a bit : that the current trend is overused, because I loved strapless with colour belt long before they were in fashion. Now I'll have to find something different if I ever get married.

Loved Kate's dress, and I would also like her eveningwear if it wasn't see-through and with an unfortunate corset. It seems to be the same one she was wearing this morning, and if there was any problem with the dress this morning it was the pointed-breasted corset. With thinner fabric to cover it, it's just not working.

I have no doubt that she has. As soon as I saw the dress this morning, I thought this would be duplicated over and over again, with good cause. It's so lovely.

I think people should wear whatever makes them feel and look beautiful, regardless of the trend. Kate certainly did.

OK, I see your and genevieve's point, no pun intended.

This is my theory: when the dress was originally made Kate was a few pounds heavier and actually filled out the corset of the dress. Now that she's lost so much weight, the cups are empty and pointy.

Like the infamous stripper fairy dress!

I realize that Kleinfeld's has a deal with her so they have to pimp her dresses (SUCH an appropriate word for it) but yech. I like a good corset as much as the next girl (with a corset fetish, anyway) but it goes UNDER your clothes.

Kleinfelds is not a place I would go to for a wedding dress, it's a factory. A small place where they care about their clients is preferable.

I noticed the pointiness too. I just figured it was because lace is difficult to dart.

This one is actually rather "modest" for her corset styles (scroll down for the pic):

And this one has sleeves (second pic on page) but that doesn't redeem it from tackiness:

There have been worse ones on the show.

^^^ Who buys those? They make, even the tackiest ice dancing dresses look modest. What a waste of lace and silk.

I have a question regarding the tiara and the veil: lots of articles say the veil was held in place by the tiara but I can't see where it's attached. When the veil is over Kate's face, it seems as if it's just thrown over her head without being pinned down anywhere.

But after she lifts it, you can see it's attached behind the tiara.

And there are brides who want to be "edgy" and "sexy" who think this is just fab.

I agree that her dresses are tasteless and slutty, but I'll give her props for being savvy enough to recognize that there is a segment of the bridal market that wants exactly that.

I'm on dial-up so it would take me all night (especially as I only know it as "the stripper fairy dress", which I'm sure is NOT what the designer called it!) but imagine the first one PDilemma linked, only instead of the long skirt, a short tutu-like thing and you basically have it.

Wait, strike that, I think I found it (by google image searching "Pnina Tornai stripper fairy dress".) http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_THPS8BLfd_...1949-large.jpg

    This or very similar.
