I took a good look at my blades today and I noticed three things that have me kind of worried - I had them sharpened at a regular pro shop-type place at a local rink not too long ago, but I'm not sure if what I'm seeing is a serious issue or completely normal (or somewhere in between).
1. It seems that the ball of the blade was sharpened differently on the right blade that it was on the left?
See: right - http://i51.tinypic.com/pxhs7.jpg; left - http://i52.tinypic.com/22ibs3.jpg; I'm concerned about the unevenness in the rounded-out part of the sharpening job on the right. Strangely, as I'm working on regaining my technique, my backspins (particularly my back sit spin, which is now incredible for some reason, having always only been average) are considerably more centered and controlled than my regular spins.
2. I noticed these bizarre matte markings every 1.5" or so on each blade - seen here: http://i55.tinypic.com/2nv7z0z.jpg, and also in one of the links above: http://i51.tinypic.com/pxhs7.jpg. I don't remember my blades ever looking like this, but it has been nearly ten years since I last took a good look at them, so...
3. Finally, a line seems to be running across the left blade: http://i52.tinypic.com/21drb0o.jpg - it looks/feels like that's where the previous sharpening job stopped, since it feels uneven, but could this be affecting my skating?
