Which Aussie? Central doesn't sound like Melbourne, for example.
Like I said, I find Edinburgh accents appealing, not a big fan of Glasgow. Like Connemara, HATE HATE HATE working-class Dublin. There's a wide variety of accents within "Australian", "Scottish", "English," etc. (Fan of RP, giggle at Mancunian, etc.) And I suppose the UKers I know are a bad influence, or I watch too much Monty Python, but I can't help it, I find the stereotypical Welsh accent funny, not sexy.

It might sound fake, but I don't know why it sounds incorrect. Most of the Southern Hemisphere has a similar accent - NZ, SA, the pacific islands. We spell like the Brits and use American vocabulary. We just sound wierd.
