well, I guess we saw this coming. Good luck to C/P W/P, they will make a good batle for the gold medal.

No need to apologize, IMO -- it's confusing when there's a skater- or team-specific thread in the Trash Can and there is "real news" that belongs in GSD like Virtue/Moir's official withdrawal from Canadians.
Maybe this thread can be merged with the other V/M thread in GSD and the thread title revised to reflect their withdrawal from Canadians and TBD for 4CC/Worlds? http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/show...t=76446&page=6
Thanks -- and I hope that their recovery continues. I don't know that it necessarily puts them out of Worlds, but that is sounding less likely.
I'm really sad, because I really love their skating, such a beauty.![]()
Skate Canada has made it very clear that it was not necessary for Tessa & Scott to compete at Nationals to be named to the CDN team for Worlds.

Can't skate but love to watch
I usually have a problem with petitioning to teams but I think its clear that Tessa and Scott have earned their spots. Even though they have been out of competition, they are the reigning Olympic and World Champions, which will put them in a much better light with judges than a rising Canadian team. I hate to bring this up but I also think of it like Michelle Kwan circa 2006 -- she was one of the reasons they had those spots in the first place.
I love Kaitlin Weaver and Andrew Poje's style. Hope they win at Canadians. They are so elegant. He's really tall, dark and handsome.
I am sad they are out because I was looking forward to seeing them again, but at this point I think the most important thing is that Tessa heals completely. IMHO they have nothing left to prove and it would be a shame if she sustained a permanent injury by getting back on the ice too early.
Get well soon Tessa!
"You can get so much of good thing, you can linger too long in your dreams, say good-bye to the oldies but goodies, 'cause the good ole days weren't always good, and tomorrow isn't as bad as it seems" Billy Joel (as quoted by BigBadBob)
Unfortunately there's no GOE for tall, dark and handsome
http://web.icenetwork.com/news/artic...&vkey=ice_news - icenetwork re V&M withdrawal"[Meryl and Charlie] have had a very good first half of the season, it's lucky for us to have them here to push us," Moir said. "When Igor and Marina said they didn't want us to go to nationals, we said we wanted to compete. We thought it would be hard to go to Four Continents without having competed at all [this season] but they told us we compete [with Meryl and Charlie] every day."
Not surprised about the annoucement finally that V&M are skipping Canadians. I'm just waiting to see what happens the rest of the season.
As for C&P and W&P, in past years I would agree with you that it would/should be an exciting fight between the two for the gold but I think C&P will take the title. They have and excellent FD this season (technically difficult and interesting artistically) and will probably even win the OD as long as they skate well. Even though I prefer W&P's OD, they still haven't seemed to master consistency on a regular basis. IMO even if Kaitlyn and Andrew win the OD, Vanessa and Paul will win overall based on the strength of their FD.
Voidy Swan, Dirty Carmen, Perverted Moonlight Sonata. God I love figure skating!
I'm sorry that Virtue and Moir will be missing Cdns, but like mag said, it's probably much better to give her more healing time, and give the team more prep time in their bid to be ready for Worlds. I hope it all goes well for them!
In the meantime, I will be cheering for both Weaver & Poje, and Crone & Poirier -- may the best team win!
Haunting the Princess of Pink since 20/07/11...
Not surprising to me- I would rather see Tessa and Scott work up to the highest level of skating possible before debuting their programs. But I was hoping to get a glimpse of their new FD, crossing my fingers it'll be much more thrilling than their past programs.
So now they're going head to head with D/W in their first competition of the year!! Intense.
