Yup, this IMO is the worst.

I agree that the song "Hatful of Stars" is coma-inducing, but Yuka's skating is so smooth and elegant that she makes up for it. Still, of all the songs in the world...

IIRC, that was from a pro competition where they did part of their '94 LP for the first part, and they went down on their Star lift. Lloyd had caught an edge, and Isabelle fell flat to the ice from the top of the lift. I have that comp. on tape; it was one of the first pro comps they ever did.

What a way to recover, though!!

I haven't seen this mentioned: Elena Sokolova's (Cupcake) exhibition after 2003 Worlds. She came onto the ice in what looked like a silk huggy with a hood that had a large cross on the back. I never got what she was trying to portray:

K&O's pro program where they were dressed like garish American Indians...one of them carried a long spear & they did various things with it. It was absolutely horrible & an embarassment to such a fine team. (I couldn't find a copy of this.)

Sarah Hughes's Fosse number that went on for about 10 minutes (& had about 5 pauses-for-applause) in which we didn't see one true Fosse moment.

Does anyone remember one that Plushenko did? In the middle of the program he turned his costume inside out and turned it into a skating dress and skated as a woman.

Yep it was hilarious. I think he did it in 2004.

The gender bender one? I thought that one was really silly. I liked "Sex Bomb" and that folk dance one he did (circa 1998 in COI) much more. I also really liked his exhibition version of "Carmen."

IMO there could be a whole thread of Kurt exhibitions (good ones - with maybe a few questionables)- but I love love love this one!

Okay - wait a minute - I'm sorry - I am not in the right thread/ posting wrong since this is not an eligible skater exhibition!
But can I leave it in here anyway because it is so great?

If not - someone can delete it or I will!

Maybe she thought wearing a costume that's similar to what Grishuk & Platov wore for their Requiem FD would help her basic skating look better. Because a SBS comparison between Cupcake and Oksana/Pasha could only be to Elena's advantage. Cupcake did get hit upside the head by a falling suitcase just a few months before, so she might not have been thinking too clearly...

I really like the Last of the Mohicans part of that, actually.

The gender bender is Asissai, from Polunin's famous russian clown number, Asisyai. I thought it was very original

I thought Sex Bomb was funny too. What was scary about George of the Jungle is that you really didn't know what Phillipe (sp?) would do next. He kinda went from uninhibited to totally out of control.

I didn't know the context but I thought it was clever. I like skaters to be uninhibited in exhibitions.
