Getting back to Gwyneth, judging by Country Strong, which I just saw, looks like she's made it her mission in life to depress everyone else. She does a good job in the role, but Lord, what a downer of a movie. Disappointing -- I'd been looking forward to it for a while.

Well, everyone's pretty much sleeping with everyone else, but you don't actually see a lot of that. That isn't what I meant, though.

That's interesting because the trailers didn't seem to be leading in that direction at all. I thought it would be one of those "hard times leading to better days" stories.

[sarcasm]Well thats... pleasant.[/sarcasm] I won't be able to go to it anyways. My inability to tolerate country music for more than 30 seconds won't allow for it. I am normally a fan of Gwyneth's movies. I've just had way to many bad country music experiences.

Her movies aren't bad, but she comes across as an entitled twat sometimes. And her website is insufferable. Didn't we snark here about how annoying it was when she blogged about Billy Joel and his lady coming to visit and she kept calling him "William"? .

Does this pronouncement just have a whiff of "I'm really normal, not as entitled as you think I am" just at the time she has a country music movie coming out. She wants to gain the sympathy of a more ordinary American type fan.

You aren't too much of a cynic. Whenever Gwyneth has a big movie out, with the exception of the Iron Man movies because she isn't a central character, she does stuff like this. It's like she thinks that if she can remind us in magazines that she is "just like us" we'll forget what a twat she is on her website. And the rest of the time.
