    Post Bulgarian Skating news

    What's up in Bulgaria?

I was looking for news of Densta's baby when I came across a couple of articles in bulgarian and saw (with google translation) that there were problems with the Federation They won't send anyone to Euros or something? I am a bit confused!

Does anyone knows exacly what's happening with the Bulgarian skating federation and maybe translate some articles?

My Bulgarian is a little rusty, but I didn't find anything about Bulgaria not sending any competitors to Euros. Albena was even quoted saying that they have secured spot for a man, a lady and a dance team. The pairs team apparently didn't have a chance to compete and achieve the minimum score.

There is a scandal (power struggle) in the Federation.

I also know that the Bulgarian Federation has entered a man, a lady and a dance team for Bern.

4 Pairs are entered from 4 countries. They all need the ISU minimum score (although I guess Mukhortova/Blanchard won't be going anywhere even if they obtain it - I hope they don't withdraw!) so hopefully they all turn up and earn it.

Thank you for starting this thread LibertangoBriefly from all four articles:
At the end of November there was meeting of BSF General Council to discuss financial problems caused by the President of BSF Mariela Staikova. It is not clear if she'll stay .Both Albena Denkova and Evgenia Radanova refused the President's position.
Here is video from BTV about the meeting.

Was it said what the problems were caused by?

I hope it's "just" mismanagement and not fraud. :/

In February, last year, Staikova was robed and for few months she was using for personal needs a credit card that was given her by the Federation .At the meeting she stated that she'll pay back those 30-40 000 leva/20-25 000 EU/ .There were more problems with bad managment and not financing skaters and shortreak sportsmen, favoriting few sport clubs and neglecting others.Shortly it wasn't a prety picture.Being a fighter Albena is trying to solve the problem but so far everything is the same.

Thanks everyone! The situation at the federation sounds terrible, I hope they'll found someone the the president position.

Who's the dance team? I looked at the results of the 2010 Bulgarian Nats and there was no dance competion there. But Kristina TREMASOVA / Dimitar LICHEV have done a JGP this year.

I suppose the one going to the EC are Georgi Kenchadze, Sonia Radeva and if they archieve the minimum score Nina Ivanova / Filip Zalevski. Is that right?

They did propose a candidate but she cannot fulfil the position until the curent one is there and she is not giving up the position .There is a Bulgarian proverb: "While the horses are kicking each other the stallions suffer" and I hope everything will work out in the best way because those that will realy suffer from this mess are the sportsmen .

According to wikipedia Hristina Vassileva was 3rd. Sonia Radeva won and Daniela Paskaleva was 2nd.

But it was held on 9th and 10th January 2010. I suppose the 2011 Nationals will be held soon.

Thanks. I guess Vassileva goes to Euro's because she did better than Radeva this season.

That makes no sense, most of the European countries held their 2011 Nationals in Dec 2010.

As I mentioned earlier, they are trying for the minimum score at Nesquik Cup this Friday. They are the only Bulgarian pair that's competed this year and no one else is listed as a substitute to replace them.

Thank you , good luck to them.As it was mentioned in one of the articles the other pair team had problems with their visa and missed two competitions.

I looked at the official web site of BSF.It hasn't been updated for long time but has some helpful info about the history ,skaters and clubs:

    Thank you for the videos!
The pair team did not make the minimum score for Europeans. Anyone knows if they are planning to try for the minimum score before Worlds?

There's Bavarian Open (closing date was 04-Jan), Mont Blanc Trophy (CD 10-Jan) and Ice Challenge in early March.

While I would like to see them skate at the B Internationals I think Worlds would be a season too soon for them.
