Mega Millions $335 Million Jackpot tonight

Gosh, I don't know how anyone could blow through that kind of money, even if you cut it in 1/3 after taxes and such and just say you have $100 million. I never have liked to buy things, I feel like it is a waste. I would buy a nice house, give some to my mom and dad and brother and close cousins and stuff and then I would simply travel and eat really well! I would travel just to go eat at places, haha. I don't think I could ever travel or eat enough to spend $100 million! I wouldn't want multiple houses. If I go somewhere I will just rent a beautiful place, even if it costs a few thousand or more for my stay. Oh, I love daydreaming about this, maybe one day it will be reality.

Considering the odds there are to win the jackpot, I think it would be funny to say "wow, you should buy a lottery ticket" to the person who actually wins it.

I bought 7 tickets on my lunch hours (that's how many $1's that I had).

I would take the lump sum option. If you pass away and you don't take the lump sum option it goes back into the coffers. So, I'll take the lump sum and take some financing courses and do some research on finding someone to help me manage my money.

I always thought this board had reasonably intelligent people, but I guess not. I mean really, there's no possible chance that any of you will win tonight's jackpot...because today I bought the winning ticket!

We were talking about this over dinner and I started my "How to Spend Big Bucks" dissertation. (New flooring downstairs, vacation home, gifts and trinkets.) DH stopped me and said "Don't spend your money before you win it."

I don't think I could burn through a million. I just don't have expensive tastes.
DH and kids, on the other hand...

I have always said (and still say) that if I haven't spoken to you in the last 60 days (family member or not), please don't come looking for me after I win the big one. In my mind, this means that we do not have a close relationship, and I won't feel guilty about telling you no, regardless of where you fall on the family tree. The bank uses this time frame as a measure of when to repossess your car or to start foreclosure proceedings if they haven't heard from you, so I figure that it's good enough for me.

Ahhh, that's true. That right there is a good reason to take the lump sum.

If I won, I'd hire UMBS Go Blue to manage my money and make good vBookie bets.

I'd give money to my parents and FIL/MIL, since they financed our lives and education. But considering that both our siblings have always made WAY more money than we have (and in fact of all my extended family, I'm by far the poorest . . . many have made millions) they certainly don't need it.

When I got my MBA, my class helped my teacher put together a financial plan for a lottery winner. We interviewed him about his long term goals etc. When we were done he said he had changed him mind. He pulled some porn VHS out of his backpack and pointed to the boat on the cover and said, "I'm getting that instead." I always thought it was too bad he didn't want the girl. There may have been more money left over for us to manage for him.

When I win tonight,my first purchase will be the Cleveland Orchestra. They will be performing in my living room every evening.

My second purchase will be a bigger living room.

I think that if I ever won that kind of money I would

Put a large amount in a trust fund for grandchildren and future grandchildren
Give at least 1 million or more to my church
Buy a new house. I have had previously owned houses and am jealous of those who get to build their own.
Take a cruise and a skating trip
Buy a sailboat for my husband - he loves sailing. Of course since I get horribly seasick, as in put me in the hospital seasick, our new house would need to be somewhere near an ocean.
Maybe have lasik surgery because it is so hard to be this blind. If I loose my glasses someone has to help me find them.
And I would have to set up some sort of health insurance plan because we would no longer have health insurance.

I would like to go to each ISU event (barring clashes ofc) and certain Nationals in one season. Every season.

And if I won the lottery, I'd so totally would too.

I'd spend my life working on a skating website.

But that's the best part of not winning the lottery!

My top priorities: Buy a place in NYC, travel the world with my family, pay off my parents' and sister's houses, buy a house for my brother, put a chunk in trust for my baby nephew, distribute liberal amounts among friends and relatives before putting the remainder in an account so I could live off of interest for the rest of my life. I always said I would pay off my aunt's medical debt, but I don't know what happened to it after she died. Oh, and a private ice rink for me, me, meeeee (complete with some lessons from Yuka Sato)!

If I won crazy lottery money (like the $330 million), I'd give myself a budget of $50,000 a year and slowly give the rest away to organizations and charities I wanted to support. Seriously. I don't like to travel, don't have expensive tastes. All I want is enough money to pay my bills and have money to eat out a couple times a week, and never have to work again of course.

That would make me happy.

But alas, I didn't win. Bought $10 so two tickets .... not a single number on one entire ticket. Only one number on the second ticket. Dammit.
