    Bud Greenspan Dies at 84

I did enjoy his Olympic documentaries. Perhaps ESPN (or Showtime?) will repeat a few in the next days.

    RIP.

Oh, this is so sad. He did such a great job with his Olympic profiles each time around.

RIP, Bud. You will be missed.

I looked forward to his films as much as the Olympics themselves.

My paper's obit mentions that his 2010 Vancouver Oly film should be released shortly. It think, though that it has been some years since his new Oly films were shown here.

Universal Sports channel will be showing 9 consecutive nights of Greenspan's documentaries, beginning January 1st.

If you've never seen one, make sure to watch, they are really amazing works of film art.

Thanks for the link, Fergus - I record and watch every one of Greenspan's sport and Olympic documentaries.

They make me appreciate every athlete, from sports I've barely heard of or cared about before.

I have always looked forward to his documentaries, almost as much as the Olympics themselves.

This just makes me even more upset that Directv doesn't have Universal Sports!

Watched the 1984 one last night. Good stuff.
In my spare time, I like to interview figure skating legends.

I watched it too and really enjoyed it. I've heard about Bud's films for a long time but never got a chance to watch them. I hope to check out most of them during this run on Universal Sports. He will be missed for sure but what amazing memories he's left behind with his Olympic films. RIP
An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

On Universal Sports starting tonight (Monday, January 3) -- from the TV Alerts forum:

    1/3 Lillehammer '94
    1/4 Atlanta '96
    1/5 Nagano '98
    1/6 Sydney '00
    1/7 Salt Lake City '02
    1/8 Athens '04
    1/9 Torino '06

These documentaries are fabulous and I'm not sure if they ever aired on non-premium cable. I seem to recall them shown on either HBO or Showtime, but I could very well be wrong about that. For me, they are a must-see!
    From this article: http://www.fanhouse.com/2010/12/26/bud-greenspan-dies/
His most recent work, about the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games - which Greenspan attended - will be ready for release in the coming weeks.
