Hollywood Publicist shot to death after movie premiere

    http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/cele...ex.html?hpt=T2

I have read other articles referring to her as a Producer. Sorry if this article is wrong. Pretty considering this is not the type of person you expect to be gunned down. An older professional woman in Beverly Hills??? Really curious to find out the motives on this one. Maybe a case of mistaken identity?

Still, in the middle of Beverly Hills, it's a bold move.

Every article I've seen about this shooting, people rave about her personality and work ethic. Sounds like the industry lost a good soul.

Mistaken identity, perhaps? Because it totally sounds like a professional hit.

I originally thought that it might be a case of mistaken identity but the professional hit theory is interesting. I wonder if the police will ever be able to find out what happened?

WOW! How horrible for her family and friends. I hope they can find who did.

Coworker worked with her, said her background was clean. Funeral is this Sunday. The town is quite shaken, given the extremely violent nature of the murder.

I keep expecting to find more news or gossip of this but nothing. How completely unexpected and now everything seems so quiet. Really stinks of some kind of inside job, but why?! What would she have been involved in to get herself murdered over?

Unless/until they can find out who did this; and why it happened, everyone in the industry has reason to be nervous.

    This seems very strange.

Nothing new has really come to light but some friends of the deceased are coming forward to say that she felt she was being followed for a while. They apparently remember her making these remarks around the time of the Academy Awards (February, right?). I wonder if she was involved in some shady investments, maybe someone felt like she mislead them. In this kind of situation, I feel like money is a likely motivator. One cop made a good point and said that Beverly Hills doesn't have a very high homicide rate so the department is able to put all of their resources into this killing.

A "person of interest" (whom the police had been looking at regarding this case) shot and killed himself when police served him a search warrant in the lobby of his LA apartment complex. But now they aren't sure if he was actually involved in the murder.

Here is her will in PDF format
She left couple tens of thousands of $$$ for charities/relatives.

    Then Look at page 45:
I have intentionally and with full knowledge of the consequences omitted to provide for my niece, Jill Cohen, also known as Jill Gatsby, except for the gift of $10

I love the remark about her niece. I don't think it necessarily makes her a suspect (but why not look into her whereabouts that night) but it is so full of snark I can't help but appreciate it. She must have done something to piss her off.

BigB08822, I was watching Inside Edition the other night and a detective (of course not identified) made a comment about a business deal gone wrong.

If that's true then perhaps at least those in the industry can relax a little since it wasn't random or someone just going around targetting high powered Hollywood types.

They are saying the man who killed himself did kill Chasen. They say it was a random robbery. I have to wonder if this is all a cover up, I really do. How convenient that the man killed himself. He became the perfect scapegoat the moment that happened. Maybe it is just the cynic in me.

But I thought that guy came to the attention of the police because he was bragging he was hired to kill her, and even had large amount of cash. The cash was then determined to be from a settlement, but that could have been a front.

    Random robbery? B. S.
