    Outstanding , memorable COP programs

This comes from another thread - PUNKPRINCESS asked would be considered masterpieces since COP.

The word masterpieces is a little intimidating - so I am opening up the question to what are the outstanding and memorable programs since COP?

I would say there have been many actually! I just want a bit of time to compile a more complete list than what comes to mind immediately.

Two programs jump out at me:

Nobu's Charlie Chaplin LP. When he was on, I LOVED it.

Johnny Weir's Olympic LP. Point aside, it was just beautiful skating.

The first one that comes to mind is Irina Slutskaya's 2005 World LP.
mind you, it was the first year the COP was used at Worlds.

Takahashi and Lambiel were really the only two that did COP footwork with the same ease as pre-COP footwork and skated like they were performing instead of checking boxes.

With Buttle and Chan, everyone blended in like a huge step sequence for 4.5 minutes.

Johnny Weir - Rondo Capriccioso (SP 04-05), Child of Nazareth (FS 06-07, never skated it clean but it was amazing)
Daisuke Takahashi - Hip-hop Swan Lake (SP 07-08), The Eye (SP 09-10)
Patrick Chan - Take Five (SP 10-11)
Jeffrey Buttle - Naqoyqatsi (FS 04-05), Adios Nonino (SP 06-07/07-08), Ararat (FS 06-07/07-08)
Javier Fernandez - Pirates of the Carribean (FS 08-09/09-10)
Jeremy Abbott - Life is Beautiful (FS 10-11)
Tomas Verner - Singing in the Rain (SP 10-11)
Amin Mahbanoozadeh - Not sure of the music (SP 10-11), Avatar (FS 10-11)

    LADIES
Kim Yuna - Tango de Roxanne (SP 05-06/06-07), Danse Macabre (SP 08-09), Bond Girl (SP 07-08)

    PAIRS
    Savchenko/Solkowy - Out of Africa (FS 09-10)
    Iluishechkina/Maisuradze - Barber of Seville (SP 10-11)
Volosozar/Trankov - Carmina Burana (SP 10-11), this is kind of grading it for the potential, not quite there yet, but capable of being amazing.

    DANCE
    Davis/White - Bollywood (OD 09-10)

This is using a few very specific criteria. The programs have to be clearly constructed to maximize points under COP: lots of transitions, difficult entries to jumps, spirals or steps that would receive high levels even today, complex spins, all that kind of stuff, and that has to add to the interpretation of the music, or at the very least not take away from it. There are some great programs that were skated under COP, but that aren't really "COP programs", they're just 6.0 with maybe some transitions or fancy lifts or other bling added in. You see a lot of that in dance. Also a lot of interesting and complex COP routines that aren't really "programs", because they don't really have anything to do with the music other than just a backdrop.

Hmmm...interesting...seems like COP hasn't "sucked" the light out of skating programs as much as people think...

Well, I think that program showcased all of Evan's strengths, and he did win the World Title with it. Everything in that program was constructed to gain points under COP, and it worked. Of course it wasn't the most interesting or inspiring program, but it was VERY COP friendly.

Since there's been said CoP has had the worst impact on dance, here are some outstanding CoP dances:

Drobiazko/Vanagas 2006 FD Phantom - a one in a lifetime phenomenon for me. No other FD has made such a huge impression on me, neither before, nor after.

Davis/White 2008 FD Eleanor Rigby, 2009 FD S&D and especially their 2010 OD (one of the best, if not the best OD ever)

    Delobel/Schoenfelder 2008 FD

    Kerr/Kerr 2008 OD

am I the only one who sees that these 3 were practically the same dance over and over again?

Not really a COP program. He first skated it under 6.0, and didn't update it much when he returned to it the first time.
