I've been dating a professional musician, a blues bassist and vocalist, for a couple of years. His musicianship doesn't make me love him any less, let's say. It is sexy, no question. It is huge fun to go to a bar where he's playing and to be "with the band." I love that and I sometimes get a song dedicated to me. On the other hand, you're there for hours more or less unescorted (not a serious problem for me, the schmooze queen), you've heard all the songs before, and by the time the evening ends the floor is sticky, you can hardly keep your eyes open, and your ears are ringing from the volume of the music. Sometimes he sings to me when we're alone together and it's fun, tender, can be funny too. He has one CD that I just adore. I listen to it a lot, but especially when I'm a little down or when I miss him (it's a long distance relationship). It's such good music--it makes me proud and it's a fun gift to give. I have a supply of his CDs for gift giving.
He's said that when he was younger all the women wanted to date him because he's a musician, whereas now no women want to date him because he's a musician.
Not that I'd call her representative of the female race (I certainly hope not), to my knowledge my sister has never had a boyfriend who wasn't a musician. For many, many years it was only guitarists, all of whom strangely looked just like John Lennon, but as it happens, she ended up married to a pianist/singer (who, congrats to him, was inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame this year
)
By the way, genevieve, my sister was herself the bassist in a band many, many moons ago (lower right on both covers):

You mean it's not the drummer who scores with all the chicks?
To answer the original question...no. DEFINTIELY not interested in the sensitive-artist, my-guitar-weeps types. I am, however, a sucker for male Latin dancers, especially the British ones, as basically they're trained to behave like alpha males and most are somewhat egocentric showoffs. I go for the I-own-the-floor superconfident type, not the tortured artiste. Them I just want to utterly take down a peg or ten.
And, okay, DAMN but most men who dance Latin can use their hips in ways that should be illegal.
When I was young I was attracted to musicians because I thought they were 'cool' and 'hip'. I thinks that is pretty much the basis for attraction to musicians and actually it's pretty shallow. And I don't believe that musicians or other artists are necessarily more sensitive - that is a romantic myth.
