Now seriously: I think Brian, Tomas and Florent will be on the podium, but it's hard to predict who will win the title. I know Tomas seems stronger than Brian, but I believe everything is in Joubert's hands, if he gets back his jumps he will surely win. Tomorrow are French nationals, aren't they? This competiton will tell us a lot about Brian's current shape.

I agree. It's hard to tell who will win, but I think they all have a good shot. Tomas and Joubert will probably have a PCS advantage over Amodio but in Europe I expect Amodio's PCS will be quite high as well. Czech nationals also start tomorrow, so we will get to see how Brezina is skating these days. I think he also has a shot to medal here unless he is still obviously recovering from his injury.

But when is the last time a man won Euros without a quad? I think it's over 10 years. Urmanov in 1997? I hope to see that tradition (the quad being necessary) continue. Hopefully Joubert is up to it.

Urmanov was also the last to have won Olympics without quad before Vancouver, but your worry is a quad-less Euros?:p

Forgive me for being out of the loop, but whatever happened to Yannick Ponsero? Not that I think he would medal at Euros...

He decided to stop his career for a while to focuse on study. Maybe he'll be back.
And in good shape, it would have been possible for him to win Euros. His skating is amazing !

Exactly, Worlds and Olympics are in the toilet, but Euros men needs to remain a top class competition with lots of quads, voids, and porny skaters.

Don't count Tomas or Amodio out. Tomas will be attempting a quad there and Amodio is a fighter.

You can't be serious, otherwise I would have to think that the European skating is in real trouble and I simply refuse to believe the trouble could be that big.

I sort of have to agree. I really like Liebers, and think he's consistently undermarked, but his marks in international competition are just so low. I think he can maybe break the top 10 at Euros, but medaling is definitely a stretch.

I think either Brian or Tomas will win, the other one will come in 2nd, and Amodio will finish 3rd. Contesti, Brezina, Preaubert, and Fernandez could play spoiler, however.
