I don't know if I'm putting this in the right section. If not, please move it to another one.
Okay, I'm currently working on the terminology of figure skating (exciting subject, isn't it?) and I'm having trouble finding some information on the ISU website. I thought you guys would know the answers to my questions.
1/How are the rules written? Is it by a committee of skaters, technical specialists, or other people?
2/Is there any official document about the discussions that led to the implementation of the CoP?
3/Any magazine, conference report paper, book, in which the CoP is debated?
4/Where is it possible to find pre-2004 rules? Basically those about the 6.0 system??
And I might have some other questions that I'll add later on. Haven't worked on this assignment (well, to be more accurate, it's my dissertation) for a while because I've been so busy with other uni stuff..
My aim is to show the evolution of FS terminology analyzing the rules books..
For instance, I'm not sure that terms such as "Grade of execution", "technical caller", or "edge call" were used before the CoP was implemented.
So far, I haven't collected many sources, only those I found on the ISU website:
as well as the 'special regulations and technical rules' for 2010.
Oh and I forgot, one of my supervisors is quite ticklish, he inquired about the possible interference of the Olympic committee with the ISU members that could result in rules change. Does anyone know about this??
Any information about this topic would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
