Bob Bradley is now the NT coach for Egypt. Good luck to him and to Egypt. I would love to see both back at the World Cup.

The rumors about this have been flying around for awhile. Good luck to BB. He may need it.

Man U and Basel ended in a 3-3 tie but let me tell you that was one heck of a game! And for a minute there it looked like Basel was gonna pull off the upset! But my boys left it waaay too close. LOL Basel deserved something from the match so I am not gonna begrudge them the tie. Inter also won 3-2 at away at CSKA.

Controversy over Clarlos Tevez and his alleged refusal to play for Man City during their CL loss to Bayern Munich yesterday. Mancini says he will never play for Man City again and Tevez for his part has apologized but denied refusing to play.

Nothing too surprising happened yesterday except Valencia tied Chelsea 1-1. Messi is now tied for Barca's second all time scorer and I am sure given his young age he will be number one before long. I just wonder where was all this prowess on the field when it is time to play for Argentina's NT.

David De Gea Man U's new goalie was caught stealing and eating a donut at Tesco but was let off with just a warning. Some thought he got off too easy. But why would someone worth so many millions steal a donut worth £1.19?!

Just saw one of the funniest sports news bit I have ever seen. hehehe It concerned the game between N. Ireland and Andorra. The stadium is discribed as beautiful but seat only 850 people and it is no guarantee that the game will be sold out because Andora's 87,000 population seems to care very little. LOL A stadium that holds 850 people! hehehe

    Thumbs up

USA 1 v 0 Honduras in front of 21,000 + at the stadium of many names in Miami Gardens/Aventura. Game was played in a tropical monsoon that, along with Yom Kippur, probably held the attendance down a bit.

Klinsi's 1st win as the main man. Here's hoping for many more.

USA missed TWO easy goals and a couple of other good chances. This game could easily been 4 or 5 - 0. Saw some good stuff, despite the monsoon. Jozy played very well, and even good ol' DeMarcus Beasley was dangerous. But the midfield was pretty poor most of the game and that limited the USA's chances.

True about the missed chances. At least 2 true sitters were botched, plus several other possibilities went over the cross bar - the NFL could find several top notch field goal kickers on the USMNT, IMO...

The weekend monsoon followed about 10 days of dry season drought-like weather. A bad, bad time for the rain to occur as far as this game was concerned, but much needed as far as the Everglades and Lake Okeechobee are concerned.

As an aside: the Florida Panthers won their opening game for the season as they try to extend their record breaking run of 10 seasons w/o a Stanley Cup Playoff appearance to 11. Many more wins may hinder them in the quest to continue their streak...

More importantly, the Ft Lauderdale Strikers used the International break to capture a 3-1 win over the Puerto Rico Islanders in the 1st leg of the NASL Championship semi-final playoffs. It was PR's 1st home loss of the season. The fact that many of their starters were involved in early round CONCACAF WC play probably had much to do with their loss. The 2nd leg will be at Ft Lauderdale's Lockhart Stadium on the 15th. PR is expected to have a full team for that match. We'll see how it works out for the Strikers then....

Euro qualifying is on right now and I'm watching Belgium v German. Belgium is putting up a sprited fight but Germany is clearly the better team and leads 3-0.

Poor little country, we could have let them win. But Germany now won all ten of their 10 qualifying games, pretty impressive.

Can France please man up and win this? I don't want another France / Ireland play-off game.

EDIT: Equaliser!!! France would qualify directly with that. Let's just hope they can hold on to that for the next 10 minutes.

It seems France did indeed hold on to the draw, Italy, Spain, Russia, Greece, Turkey, Israel, Croatia and Rep of Ireland were all winners today as well. Sweden beat the Dutch to qualify as the best runners up while Turkey, Croatia, Czech Rep will all go to the play offs.

    USA 0 v 1 Ecuador

Discouraging game. USA still can't score, 2 goals in 5 games since Klinsmann took over, and gives up a goal that should not have happened late in the game to lose once again. We are now 1 win, 1 tie, and 3 losses during Klinsmann's reign. Hopefully he'll find some magic for us soon. As one of the announcers said tonight that if he's using the best players we have in our player pool the USA is in deep trouble. We simply are not that good. Pathetic on the attack and not deep enough on defense to sub out any old timers. I hope we make it to Brazil 2014, but if we continue the way we're going we may very well not be there.

We'll see what gives in June.

Slight shocker from USSF Div 2 NASL. In the semi-final round the Ft Lauderdale Strikers won both legs of a home & home series (3-1 away & 2-1 at home) to eliminate the defending league champion Puerto Rico Islanders (#2 finisher in the regular season) 5-2 on aggregate. In the other semi-final the Minnesota Stars defeated the league regular season leader Carolina Railhawks in a 2nd leg PK shootout 5-3 after both teams were tied on aggregate after 2 games to make the finals round vs Ft Lauderdale.

The #4 regular season finisher (The Strikers) will play at Minnesota (#6) on the 22nd of October & replay in Ft Lauderdale on the 29th of October to determine who this years NASL champion will be. The Strikers won the season series with 2 wins and 2 draws. Hopefully that season long trend will continue until the end of the month...

Carlos Tevez have returned to training albeit by himself apart from the rest of the team. Man City have said that it is doubtfull he will ever play with the team again and does still face a desciplinary hearing. And in WC qualifiers, Venezuela beat Argentina.

    P.S.
Striker Liker! I like that. hehehe

The trend did not continue. The Strikers put themselves in a deep, deep hole with a 1-3 loss at Minnesota. They were so inept that they couldn't score any goals. The one that was credited to them was a Minnesota own goal.... The series continues at Lockhart Stadium Saturday evening. Hopefully the red & yellow can dig themselvs out of this hole, but I fear it is a bit too deep.

    We'll see.

NJL (..in it's way this was a worse loss than the Dolphins total collapse on Sunday........it's been a tough sports week-end in south Fl......)

    ETA: Man City 6 v 1 Man U!........who'd a thunk it?
